Marjorie Turner Roberts Mrs. H. Marjorie Turner Roberts, 76, of Kelly Road, Walkersville, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Wilbert Henry Roberts, who died in 1984. Born May 5, 1924, in Fishertown, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Ruie Reininger Parks. Mrs. Roberts graduated from Schellsburg High School in 1942. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a bookkeeper for Bethmont Surgical Supply in Bethesda and Pargas Inc. in Rockville. Mrs. Roberts enjoyed gardening and flowers, refinishing furniture and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by three children, Janet E. Parks of Walkersville, Ellen M. Smythe and husband John of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Carol J. Marshall and husband Kenneth of Rockville; two stepchildren, William Roberts of Rockville, and Lucille Henry; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two uncles, Glenn and Harry Reininger, both of Pleasantville, Pa.; and two aunts, Mary Cuppett of Bedford, and Cora Feather of Fishertown, Pa. She also will be remembered by numerous friends. Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by one son, Rean J. Miller, who died March 2, 2000, and one aunt, Katherine Urice. The family received friends July 28 at Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick. Funeral services were July 29 at the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Dick Ellis of the New Hope Presbyterian Church officiated. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church, 216 Carroll Parkway, Frederick, MD 21701. Ethel L. Garlington Mrs. Ethel L. "Billie" Garlington, 77, of Frederick and formerly of Bent Willow Circle, Germantown, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Frederick. She was the wife of Leslie E. Garlington Sr. who died in 1994. Born Jan. 13, 1923, in West Perth, Australia, she was the daughter of the late Clement and Vivian Grundy. She is survived by three daughters, Gloria J. Fox, Carolyn Embrey and Loretta F. Muranaka; two sons, Frank Fetter and James E. Garlington; two sisters, Bobbie and Phyllis Grundy; two brothers, Frank and Clement Grundy; three grandchildren, Julie Fox, Sarah Embrey and Kaela Muranaka; and one great-grandchild, Stephanie Fox. She was preceded in death by one stepson, Leslie E. Garlington Jr. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were handled by Davis Funeral Home, Frederick. Eva L. Williamson Mrs. Eva Linthicum Williamson, 67, died July 27, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital from emphysema. She was the wife of Harry W. Williamson, who died in 1993. She is survived by one daughter, Liz Williamson Swanson and husband Butch of Adamstown; and one son, Harry W. Williamson Jr., and wife Vicki of Rockville. Memorial contributions may be made to Mrs. Williamson's adult day care: The Support Center Inc., 1010 Grandin Ave., Rockville, MD 20851. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Barber's Funeral home and will be private. Philip D. "Phil" Pirker Mr. Philip D. "Phil" Pirker, 57, of Inspiration Court, Walkersville, died Sunday, July 30, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Rozanne E. Pirker. They were married nearly 36 years. Born April 14, 1943, in Fort Smith, Ark., he was a son of the late Frank Pirker and Ruth Bass Pirker. He was employed as a systems analyst with CACI International Inc., Silver Spring. He was a member of the American Legion, FSK, Post 11. Mr. Pirker also enjoyed stained glass and wood-working. He especially enjoyed making gifts for family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Dana Michael Pirker and wife Rosie of League City, Texas, Gregory Scott Pirker and wife Beverly of Pittsburgh, and Penny Kay Pirker of Frederick; two grandchildren, Jeremy Philip Pirker of Frederick, and Rachel Esther Pirker of League City; seven brothers and sisters, Ben Pirker, Carolyn Adamec, Barbara Greco, Tom Pirker, Margaret Vladimar, Ginger Hart and Rosemary Ruloph; mother-in-law, Esther Klemz; brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Arvid and Pam Klemz; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Pirker was preceded in death by one brother, David Pirker. The family received friends Aug. 2, at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today from the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Donald T. Hammond will officiate. Interment will be in Glade Cemetery, Walkersville. "Gram" Lord, 77, of Stephens City, Va., died Friday, Aug. 4, in her daughter's home in Stephens City. She was married to the late William N. Lord Jr. Born Aug. 7, 1922, in Norway, Maine, she was daughter of Francis and Ruby Swift Carroll. She retired from Kinder Care in Manassas, Va. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church in Bealeton, Va. Surviving are three daughters, Denise Salmon of Stephens City, Carol Gregory of Bybee, Tenn., and Nancy "Casey" Buechner of Bealeton; one son, Philip Lord of Walkersville; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, Va. The Rev. Tracy Bair officiated. Inurnment was in Parklawn Memorial Cemetery in Rockville. Gates Mrs. Rachel Catherine Moxley Gates, 95, of Frederick, formerly of Gaithersburg and Rockville, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Homewood Assisted Care Living, Frederick. She was the wife of the late Marbery F. Gates. Born May 23, 1905, in Washington, D.C. she was a daughter of the late Ernest W. and Annie Dwyer Moxley. She had worked as a switchboard operator for the C&P Telephone Co. and then as a switchboard operator for the Montgomery County Government in Rockville where she retired. Mrs. Gates was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg. She had been active with the Rockville Fire Department functions where her husband was a charter member and former president for many years. She liked to travel. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Julia H. Moxley of Frederick; and five nephews, Robert W. Moxley and wife Shirley of Frederick, James A. Moxley and wife Judy of Damascus, Russell E. Moxley and wife Linda of Ijamsville, Charles E. Moxley and wife Pam, of Ashburn, Va., and Arthur Fleming of Rockville; two nieces, Ruth Sparks of Rockville, and Emma Jean Hill of North Carolina; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Herman W. Moxley. Funeral services were held at noon Saturday, Aug. 5, at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville. Interment was in Forest Oak Cemetery in Gaithersburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick.
