Caffrey Mr. Mathew Francis Caffrey, 46, of Silver Spring, died Sept. 26, at Veterans Affair Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Born Nov. 13, 1953, in New York, he was a son of Millicent W. Caffrey of Silver Spring and the late Noel P. Caffrey. Mr. Caffrey graduated from Sherwood High School in Olney and received a degree from Montgomery College where he majored in photography. He later became a photographer of studio portraits. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1972 until 1973. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olney. In addition to his mother, Mr. Caffrey is survived by three sisters, Jane Applegate of Woodbine, Mary Price of Thurmont and Ruth Caffrey of Rockville; seven brothers, Michael and Robert Caffrey, both of Damascus, Joseph and Daniel Caffrey, both of Silver Spring, and John, Patrick and Francis Caffrey, all of Mount Airy; and 17 nieces and nephews. Visitation was at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville. Services were held at St. Peter's Church on Sept. 29. *****Oct. 14, 2000***** Raymond Burdette Mr. Raymond R. Burdette, 77, of Clarksburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville. He was the husband of Goldie M. Burdette. Born April 24, 1923, in Hyattstown, he was a son of the late Willie Lloyd and Maude Wilkins Burdette. Mr. Burdette served in the U.S. Army Airforce during World War II. He and his brother were senior partners in the ownership and operation of Burdette Brothers Pontiac in Hyattstown. He was a charter member of the Hyattstown Volunteer Fire Department and a member of American Legion Post 171 in Damascus and Loyal Order of Moose 371 in Frederick. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, John R. Burdette and wife Carole T. of Clarksburg, and Richard A. Burdette and wife Shirley B. of Woodbridge, Va.; three grandchildren, John R. Jr., Monica and Casey Burdette; one brother, Norman Burdette of Ijamsville; and two sisters, Rebecca Price of Oxford, and Shirley Dudrow of Martinsburg, W.Va. Mr. Burdette is preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Burdette. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Hyattstown Christian Church at 26012 Frederick Road in Hyattstown. The Rev. Dr. W.F. Terry Reister officiated. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick. Arrangements were handled by Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home at 26401 Ridge Road in Damascus. Robert Nicholas Smith Jr. Mr. Robert Nicholas Smith Jr., 68, of Blue Ridge Acres, Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and formerly of Bethesda, Frederick and Kensington, died Saturday, Oct. 7, of a heart attack. He was the husband of Dorothy (Dottie) Smith. He was born Jan. 26, 1932, in Savannah, Ga. He graduated from BCC High School in Bethesda in 1950 and attended University of Maryland and Clemson University. He was a homebuilder. He retired from his work as a Washington D.C. firefighter. He served four years as a member of the U.S. Navy's Underwater Demolition Team. He was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Golf Club and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War. Surviving in addition to his wife are eight children, Robert N. Smith III and Robin Kable, both of Westminster, Kathleen Waldie of El Dorado, Calif., Robert D. Schindell of Clarksburg, Mary Anne S. Mildner and Betty S. Peacock, both of Gaithersburg, Janette S. Shaw of Kensington, and Rosalind Cleaver of Waianae, Hawaii; 21 grandchildren; one great- grandson; and one sister, Sally Corbin of Moorestown, N.J. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home at 970 Washington St. in Harpers Ferry. Donations to a favorite charity in place of flowers would be appreciated. *****Oct. 26, 2000***** Agnes Florence Wisner Mrs. Agnes Florence Wisner, 98, of 33 E. Fourth St., Frederick, died Saturday, Oct. 21, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late John E. Wisner. Born April 11, 1902, in Quince Orchard, she was a daughter of the late Tudor U. and Small Heeter. Mrs. Wisner had worked for many years as a seamstress at Sagner's on Fourth Street in Frederick. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a member of The United Methodist Women and the auxiliary to Montevue Home. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Marie Rowe and Virginia Lee Dinterman and husband John William, all of Frederick; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, John William Wisner; one brother, Tudor U. Heeter; three sisters, Effie Claggett, Esther Peddicord and Jessie Heeter; and one son-in-law, Harry Lewis Rowe. Funeral services were held Oct. 25, in Etchison Memorial Chapel of Keeney and Basford Funeral Home at 106 E. Church St. in Frederick. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick. The Rev. Dr. Harold B. Wright II, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiated.
