He was the husband of Josephine Cramer Gilbert. They recently had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Born Dec. 14, 1922, near Walkersville, he was a son of the late John E. and Amy Filler Gilbert. He graduated from Walkersville High School in 1941. Mr. Gilbert worked on his family's farm prior to working at Aunt Lucy's Hams in Walkersville. He later worked as a meat cutter at Carmack's Meat Department in Frederick, and retired from Trout's Market in Woodsboro. He enjoyed bus trips, his grandchildren and the registered beef cattle on his daughter's farm. Mr. Gilbert was a member of Glade United Church of Christ where he had served on the consistory and other church committees. He was a member of the Walkersville Volunteer Rescue Co. and a life member of the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Co. 11. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, J. Thomas Gilbert Jr. and wife Eleaner, and Richard W. Gilbert and wife Debra, all of Walkersville; one daughter, Susie Snyder and husband Daniel of Fairfield, Pa.; six grandchildren, Erin, Jack, Richie and Amy Gilbert, and Brandy and Seth Snyder; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by one brother, Alton L. Gilbert. Funeral services were held Oct. 31, at Glade United Church of Christ at 21 Fulton Ave. in Walkersville. Mr. Gilbert's pastor, the Rev. Dr. Gerald C. Hanberry, officiated. Interment was in Union Chapel Cemetery in Libertytown. Arrangements were handled by Stauffer Funeral Home in Walkersville. *****Nov. 17, 2000***** Robert John Ehrlinger Mr. Robert John "Biggie" or "Bob" Ehrlinger, 77, of New Market and most recently of Homewood at Crumland Farms in Frederick, died Nov. 7, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Marie T. Guadagnoli Ehrlinger. Born Aug. 11, 1923, in Wilkinsburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Carl Henry and Marie Dorothy Wessler Ehrlinger. He served during World War II for the Merchant Marines. He worked for Westinghouse and Johns Hopkins in research, as a teacher at Johns Hopkins, and for the Social Security Administration. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Dannah Ehrlinger Fleming and husband Paul R., and David Justin Ehrlinger and wife Rebecca, all of Frederick; one sister, Mary Christine Demmler of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 11, at Grace Episcopal Church in New Market. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Homewood at Crumland Farms to benefit activities, 7407 Willow Road, Frederick, Md., 21702; or to Grace Episcopal Church, P.O. James Faherty Casey Deacon James Faherty Casey, 61, of Braddock Heights, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at his home. He married Maxine Elizabeth Bryan Casey on Sept. 2, 1961. Born Jan. 31, 1939, in Potosi, Mo., he was a son of the late Anthony A. and Margaret M. Pinkley Casey Sr. Casey began working for the Atomic Energy Commission in Oak Ridge, Tenn. In 1980, he was appointed deputy superintendent of field programs with the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg. Following his retirement, he operated the Fully Involved Gift Store, in Emmitsburg. He earned his Eagle Scout award and later was ordained a deacon in the Baltimore Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as a deacon and member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Frederick. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Tamara Elizabeth Casey of Baltimore, Jennifer A. Smullen and husband Mark of Frederick, and Bryan F. Casey and wife Jennifer L. of Hillsboro, N.C.; two brothers, Bishop Morgan A. Casey of Bolivia, South America, and Anthony A. Casey Jr. of Herculaneum, Mo.; four grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Rosary was recited Nov. 8 at Kenney and Basford Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Nov. 9 at St. John in Frederick. Interment was in St. John's Cemetery in Frederick. Drawer 498, Emmitsburg, Md. 21727. *****Nov. 21, 2000***** Thomas Lyddane Jr. Mr. Thomas Lyddane Jr., 54, of Mount Airy, formerly of Kensington died Nov. 13, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick. He was the husband of Maureen A. Lyddane. Born Nov. 8, 1946, in Maryland, he was a son of Irene Gooding Lyddane of Monrovia and the late Thomas Lyddane. Mr. Lyddane had worked as a printer for a printing company and also worked as a salesman for J.B.K. Tobacco store in Mount Airy. He was a Protestant. His hobbies were hunting and collecting coins. He was a Cal Ripken fan and a faithful Oriole fan. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two children, Debra Lynn and Nicole Lyddane of Maryland; three step children, Mark A. Tyler of Old Town, Craig D. Tyler of Shady Side and Tracy Zieglar of Mount Airy; and four grandchildren, Beetle Tyler of Old Town, Tessa and Craig Tyler Jr., both of Shady Side, and Michael Zieglar of Mount Airy. Funeral services were held Nov. 17 at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville. Interment was in Parklawn Cemetery in Rockville. Carroll Irving Nicholson Mr. Carroll Irving Nicholson, 70, of Northampton Manor Nursing Center, Frederick, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was born June 23, 1930, in Rockville, a son of the late Barbara Lee Riggs and Clifford N. Nicholson. Surviving him are one daughter, Barbara Jo Suddueth and her husband Preston of Raleigh, N.C., two grandchildren, one sister, Dora Virginia See of Rockville, one brother, Herbert Nicholson of Bradenton, Fla. and three nieces. Mr. Nicholson was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Lauridsen and Dorothy Watson. Interment was in Forest Oak Cemetery, Gaithersburg.
