He was a developer/builder and owner of Ausherman Construction Co. in Frederick. He was the husband of Hilda L. Mercer Ausherman. They were married for 61 years. Born Jan. 1, 1918, in Unionville, he was a son of the late Milton Keefer and Daisy Virginia Haller Ausherman. Mr. Ausherman was a founding member, past president and life director of the Frederick County Builder's Association. He received the first Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from May 1944 to February 1946. He was an active member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren, where he was a member of the deacon and church boards. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Janice A. Walsh and husband James H. of Richmond, Va.; three sons, Curtis W. Ausherman and wife Frances I. of Williamsport, Marvin E. Ausherman of Frederick, and Dale E. Ausherman and wife Candace J. of Middletown; two brothers, Theodore Ausherman of New Oxford, Pa., and Carroll M. Ausherman of Adamstown; one sister, Madeline Stover of York, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Ausherman and Irene V. Sanbower; three brothers, Melvin K., Herbert and Chester M. Ausherman; and one grandson, Christopher Ausherman. Funeral services were held on Dec. 28, at Frederick Church of the Brethren The Rev. Paul Mundey officiated. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Frederick Church of the Brethren Building Fund or the Ernest W. Connelly Sr., 70, died Sunday, Dec. 24, at his home in Frederick. He was the husband of Sina E. Connelly. They were married for 50 years. Born Nov. 16, 1930, in Germantown, he was a son of the late Louis David and Dorothy Maye Lowe Connelly. Mr. Connelly retired from his work as a brick mason. He was an avid follower of Nascar driver Dale Earnhart and the Dallas Cowboys. Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Karen Moore and husband David of Jefferson, Darlene Butt and husband Maurice of Gaithersburg, Tina Aleshire and husband Isaac and Rodney Connelly Sr., all of Frederick, and Kenneth Connelly Jr. and wife Virginia of Brunswick; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Janice Butt of Germantown; and three brothers, Robert Connelly of Mount Airy, Ralph Connelly of Boyds and John Rankin of Arizona. Mr. Connelly is preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Lewis Connelly. Funeral services were held on Dec. 28, at Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home at 26401 Ridge Road in Damascus. Interment was in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick. *****Jan. 18, 2001***** Lucille Woodland Faulconer Lucille Woodland Faulconer, 79, died of cancer Dec. 25, 2000, at Casey House hospice in Derwood. Born in Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Faulconer was married to Richard M. Faulconer, who died July 14, 2000. She is survived by a son, Thomas, of Central Square, N.Y.; two daughters, Ann Witty of Woodbridge, Va., and Carol Faulconer of Montgomery Village; and three grandchildren and one great-grandson. A memorial service will be held in late January at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Woodbridge. Arrangements were handled by Miller Funeral Home and Crematory in Woodbridge. Sylvia Ann Horn Sylvia Ann Horn, 66, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at her home in Wheaton. Born Oct. 10, 1934 in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of Andrew J. Horn of Walkersville and the late Golda Rhoads Horn. Surviving besides her father are three brothers: Douglas M. Horn and his wife Sandra J. of Mount Airy; Eugene L. Horn and his wife Jane Cass-Horn of Annapolis; and Andrew J. Horn, Jr. and his wife Jan of Savannah, Ga.; 2 nieces, 3 nephews and one great nephew. Memorial services were held 2 p.m. Dec. 29, at Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home in Damascus. Interment was private. The family request that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to C.H.I. Centers for the Handicapped, 10501 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20903. Ferdinand V. Marsik Mr. Ferdinand V. Marsik, 84, a resident of Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001. He was the husband of Helen Reidi Marsik, to whom he had been married for 59 years. He was born on April 6, 1916, in New York City, New York. Mr. Marsik was a graduate of Horace Mann School and Columbia University where he received his chemical engineer degree with subsequent advanced post-graduate degrees. He was a licensed professional engineer. Mr. Marsik worked in private industry and in the Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. and Germantown as a chemical engineer for over 40 years, retiring at the age of 70. He was a member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church in Frederick, where he was active in the Wise Owl's Club. He was active in professional, civic and church activities. He was an avid gardener. Surviving in addition to his wife is one son: Dr. Frederic John Marsik and wife Pamelia of New Freedom, Pa.; one daughter, Janne Marsik Cummings of Montgomery Village; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Mr. Marsik was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Moore and Mildred Johnson. Funeral services were held on Jan. 11 at Brook Hill United Methodist Church. Interment was private. Eising Donald C. Eising, 67, of Fort Worth, Texas, and formerly of Laytonsville, died Jan. 3, 2001. Mr. Eising was retired from IBM and was an accomplished organist for many churches in the Washington/Baltimore area, including Montgomery United Methodist Church, Damascus. Born Sept. 21, 1934, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late John and Alvina Eising. Survivors include his wife Marguerite, son Stefan and wife Elizabeth, son Jonathan, and grandchildren Kevin and Rebecca. A memorial service was held on Jan. 13 at Montgomery United Methodist Church in Damascus. Robert T. Matney Robert T. Matney, 90, of Frederick and Marco Island, Fla., died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born in Kentucky on Aug. 6, 1910, he was a son of the late William H. and Frances Robinson Matney. Mr. Matney was the husband of Esther "Rose" Mensch Matney, his wife of 48 years. Mr. Matney was in the Air Force during WW II and worked for the U.S. Government in the Department of Labor. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Lynn M. Collins and Sharon M. Ferro both of Laytonsville, Robert H. Matney of Damascus, and Richard T. Matney of Mount Airy; one brother, Williams H. Matney of California; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. The Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville handled arrangements. Interment was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Lung Association.
