She was the wife of the late Elmon Edmonds who predeceased her in July 1982. Born May 8, 1932 in Montgomery, Va., she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Nannie Reed of Woodsboro. She worked at Thurmont Shoe for 15 years and Cambridge Rubber Co. in Taneytown for 21 years until her retirement. Surviving are: three daughters, Shirley Setherley of Thurmont, Mary Heiner and her husband Vernon of Ladiesburg, Doris Stambaugh and her husband Charles of Hagerstown. Two sons Kenny Edmonds of Jessup and Eddie Edmonds of Woodsboro; eight grandchildren, Karen Furdock, Debbie Davis, Kim Heiner, Scott Edmonds, Randy Edmonds and Ken Edmonds, Keith Baumgardner and Kevin Baumgardner. She has 10 great-grandchildren, one surviving sister, Frances Helms of Baltimore and two surviving brothers, Lewis Reed, Jr. of New Market and Marvin Reed of Frederick. One daughter, Judy Diane Edmonds and one sister, Jean Mercer predeceased Mrs. Edmonds in death. Mrs. Edmonds left this special message. "In special appreciation to Kim Heiner who went through the last 8 years of cancer with me. Who stayed and took care of her grandmother through all the treatments and Dr.'s visits. I want to thank you from my heart and tell you I love you. Grandma." Funeral services were held July 25 at the funeral home chapel. Interment was in Resthaven memorial Gardens in Frederick. Anne Young Thomas Mrs. Anne Young Thomas, 79 of Frederick died Friday, June 29, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick. She was the wife of the late Sylvester Lee Thomas, who died March 25, 1992. She was born Dec. 15, 1921 in Washington, DC, a daughter of the late George W. and Anna Jannette Lacey Young. Mrs. Young attended kindergarten and early elementary school at Sidwell Friends Academy in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Gaithersburg High School and University of Maryland. She taught Home Economics and Chemistry at Indianhead High School and Gaithersburg High School. During WWII she worked as a cryptographer and a calibrator of shells and munitions for the Department of War. Mrs. Thomas introduced the first private nursery school in Frederick in the early 1950s and taught at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Nursery School. She was a member of the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Dialysis Unit, a past member of the Goshen Mills Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, member of the Eastern Star, a cub scout den mother, charter member and founder of the FSK Camping Club, member of the EK Sorority at University of Maryland and the Frederick Keys Fan Club. Memorial services were held Tuesday, July 3 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 108 West Church Street, Frederick with Reverend Fr. Scott Bellows officiating. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Thomas to the All Saints Episcopal Church, 108 West Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701 or the F.M.H. Auxiliary, 400 West 7th Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Dorothy M. Trattner Dorothy M. Trattner of Rockville died July 4, 2001, of cancer, at the Casey House in Rockville. Born April 15, 1936, in New Jersey, she was the wife of Henry Trattner. She is also survived by daughters Sandy Keefer and Suzy Wood; a sister, Shirley Ludwick; and two grandsons. She also was the mother of Shirley Trattner who died in 1994. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
