She was the wife of the late Kermit K. Anders, her husband of 52 years. They were married July 13, 1935. Born March 20, 1907, in Thurmont, she was the daughter of the late Charles William and Elise May McAfee Harman. Mrs. Anders was a 1928 graduate of Thurmont High School. She then graduated from Towson University. She started her 30-year teaching career in a two-room schoolhouse in Mountaindale, Frederick County. She went on to teach at Emmitsburg Elementary and Thurmont Elementary. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge. She was also a member of the National Teachers Association, the Retired Frederick County Teachers Association and the Thurmont Senior Citizens. In addition to her teaching, she enjoyed being a mother and homemaker for 10 years. She and her husband also owned an apartment house on Carroll Street, Thurmont for 34 years. Her strongest interests were family, friends and neighbors. She is survived by a son, Gerald K. Anders and his wife Jane of Annapolis; and a daughter, Carol Anders Riggs and her husband Richard of Newark, Del.; two grandchildren, Allison P. Pasquier and her husband Max, and Phillip A. Miller; four siblings, Charolotte Thompson, Marion Kelly, Kenneth Harman and Helen Mumma; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ralph, Morris, Howard Harman and sisters, Belva Welch, Hazel Baker and Gertrude Miller. The family received friends on Sunday, Aug. 5 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont. Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 6 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 1004 Longs Mill Road, Rocky Ridge. The Rev. James M. Russell officiated. Interment is in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont. Thelma Larsen Hamilton Thelma Larsen Hamilton, 79, formerly of Frederick, died Saturday at Glade Valley Nursing Home in Walkersville. Born Aug. 2, 1922, in Washington, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Sigrid Nilsson Larsen. She was the wife of Kenneth Bingham Hamilton, who died Sept. 30, 1995. Mrs. Hamilton attended Trinity United Methodist Church of Frederick. She is survived by five sons, Robert W. Hamilton and his wife, Elena, of Illinois; George C. Hamilton and his wife, Phyllis, of Saudi Arabia; Roger K. Hamilton and his wife, Marisa, of Vermont; Daniel L. Hamilton and his wife, Karen, of Germantown; and Kerry J. Hamilton and his wife, Janet, of New Market. Ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Aug. 16 in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery. Those attending should assemble in the Administration Building at the cemetery by 9 a.m. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1840 York Road, Suite M, Timonium, MD 21093.
