Born Nov. 15, 1918, in Bethesda, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Helen E. Phillips Oldfield. Twice married, she was the beloved wife of the late Charles R. Nestor. Mrs. Shrout attended school in Culpeper, Va. Before retiring she was a cafeteria worker for Montgomery College, Rockville Campus. She was a member of the Flower Hill Church of the Brethren in Redland. She enjoyed cooking and sewing. She is survived by five children: Mary E. Kinder and husband Bobby of Rockville; Martha A. Thurston of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Charles P. Nestor and wife Linda of Hagerstown; Helen M. Nestor of Frederick and Peggy Koenig and husband Kenny of Monrovia; a sister, Estelle Moore of Mt. Airy and a brother, John H. Oldfield, Jr. of Kensington. Eleven grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren also survive. Arrangements were handled by Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, Laytonsville. Interment was at Flower Hill Church of the Brethren, Redland. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Assoc., Greater Washington Chapter, 7910 Woodmont Avenue, #1100, Bethesda, MD 20814. *****Sep. 13, 2001***** Agnes Kemerer Agnes Alberta Kemerer, 79, who served as chair of the health/life sciences department at Frederick Community College for 16 years, passed away at her home after a brief illness Thursday, Sept. 6. Mrs. Kemerer was director of nursing at FCC and was known for her passion to help students and took an active interest in their academic success. During her tenure, Mrs. Kemerer's nursing students each passed the state board of exam on the first attempt. She was named Emeritus Associate Dean of Nursing upon her retirement. Mrs. Kemerer served as a member of the Western Maryland Regional Health Systems Administration until 1988. Previously she worked as a cardiac rehabilitation nurse at the Martinsburg, WV, Veterans Hospital from 1969-1971. Prior to that she worked at the Washington County Hospital from 1962-69, initially as an operating room nurse and later as a nursing instructor. She moved to Middletown with her husband in 1947, assisting in his dental practice until the family moved to Braddock in 1953. Mrs. Kemerer graduated with a R.N. in nursing from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, in 1942. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Maryland in 1966, her master's in 1968, and completed all but the dissertation for her doctorate. She served in the US Army Nurse Corps as a 2nd Lieutenant in WWII at the Woodrow Wilson General Hospital in Staunton, Va., from 1942 1945. In her retirement, Mrs. Kemmerer was active in AARP, serving on the board of directors and as chairperson of the public relations committee. She traveled extensively with Frederick AARP including a trip to Alaska several years ago. She was a member of the Frederick Bridge Club. She volunteered at the Frederick County Energy Assistance Program for three years, and spent the last three years as a volunteer at the Up-County Family Center in Emmitsburg. She was a member of the Francis Scott Key Post of the American Legion. She volunteered yearly for the American Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Society fund drives. She also provided day care for several of her grandchildren while they were younger. Mrs. Kemerer is survived by two sets of twins: Dr. Verne F. Kemerer, Jr. of Silver Spring; and Vicki F. Marick of Wolfsville; and (Skip) Myron Kemerer and (Dolly) Marie Rock of Wolfsville; her sisters Neil Herbner of Freeland, Pa., and Estelle Woodring of Atlanta. She is survived by 13 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her parents Albert Leon and Estella Wydra Kocay; brothers Joseph and Alphonse Kocay; sisters Mary Kocay, Josephine Capece and Eleanor Siepietowski; and former husband Dr. Verne F. Kemerer Sr. Funeral services were held in the chapel of the Frederick Seventh-day Adventist Church on Sunday, Sept. 9 with Elder Steve Willsey officiating. A private interment followed. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Samuel Gindlesperger Samuel E. Gindlesperger, 54, formerly of Damascus, died Sept. 4 at his home in Middle River. Born Sept. 6, 1946 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Edward Albert and Gertrude Lynn Gindlesperger. Mr. Gindlesperger served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as a printer. He was a member of Upper Seneca Baptist Church at Cedar Grove. Surviving are two children: Stacy Lynn Crickman and husband Steven of Frederick, and Samuel Wesley Gindlesperger of Frederick; one grandchild, Steven Brett Crickman of Frederick; one sister, Bonnie Farman of Los Alamos, N.M.; niece and nephew, Betsy and Chuck Farman; and his aunt and uncle, Wade and Nan Gindlesperger of Walkersville. Services were held Saturday at the Olin L. Molesworth P.A. Funeral Home in Damascus with the Rev. Corry Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Parklawn Memorial Park in Rockville. *****Sep. 21, 2001***** David English Sr. Mr. David Paul English Sr., 51, of Manning, S.C., died Aug. 28, 2001, at his home. He was the husband of Kristine Fullerton English. Born May 6, 1950, in Olney, he was a son of Paul Morris of Sunter, S.C., and the late Daisy Fraley Morris. Mr. English was a 1968 graduate of Damascus High School and was employed by Food Lion as a produce manager. Surviving in addition to his wife is one son, David Paul English Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Jennifer English of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four brothers, Tracy Morris of New Windsor, Scott Morris of West Sunbury, Pa., Gary Morris of Surfside, S.C., and Richard English of Clarksburg; and two sisters, Darlene Booty of Miami and Bonnie Byers of Frederick. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, Route 108, Etchison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to International Association of Fire Fighters, New York Fire Fighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund, 1750 New York Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20006.
