Elizabeth "Lib" Nicodemus Crum, 88, of Frederick, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at the Homewood at Crumland Farms. She and her husband and family donated the land on which Homewood is now located on Willow Road. She was the wife of 63 years of John Michael Crum, who died Jan. 13, 2001. They were married Feb. 26, 1938. Born in Unionville, on Aug. 21, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Murray Denham and Margaret Edith Bowers Nicodeumus. Mrs. Crum was a graduate of Liberty High School Class of 1931. For most of her life she was a homemaker and the wife of a farmer, raising their family and working the family farm. Mrs. Crum was a member of the Women's Farm Bureau and was associated with many other organizations alongside her husband. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and had taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Crum was also associated with the Women's Democratic League and other political organizations. Surviving her is one son, J. Denham Denny Crum and wife Judy, of Frederick; three grandsons, Michael L. Crum, Christopher S. Crum and Danial W. Crum, all of Frederick; three nieces, Pat Ecker and Donna Free, both of Frederick, and Sally Langord, of Richmond, Va.; and several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, John Denham Crum, Jr., and a sister, Dorothy Ecker. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 E. Church St., Frederick. Officiating was the Rev. Dr. David G. Oravec, pastor of the church, with interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Homewood at Crumland Farms, Van Fund, 7404 Willow Road, Frederick, MD 21702, or to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701. *****Dec. 21, 2001***** Charles Pendleton Mr. Charles M. Pendleton, 52, of 6533 North Shore Way, New Market, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001 at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. He was the husband of Lisa A. Sheeley Pendleton. Born May 17, 1949 in Rock Hall, he was a son of Thomas and Rena Lee Pendleton. Mr. Pendleton was a lead designer with Bechtel and had been with them for over 25 years. Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are his son, Charles M. Pendleton II and his wife Romonia of Gaithersburg; five brothers, Thomas, Jr., Lynn, Randy, Stephen and Gregory Pendleton, all from Baltimore. Funeral services were held on Dec. 15 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 E. Church St., Frederick. Officiating were Reverend Stacey L. Brady, associate pastor of the church and Reverend Peter Whitting. A private interment was held following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions or donations may be made to the charity of the contributor's choice. Arrangements were handled by Keeney and Basford Funeral Home in Frederick.
