He was the husband of Mrs. Kathleen A. Barthlow Murphy. They had been married for 69 years. Born in Jug Bridge, on Nov. 27, 1915, he was the youngest son of the late James Albert and Lillie Mae Crummitt Murphy. In 1941, Mr. Murphy entered the Maryland State Guard and served as a sergeant. He then entered the U.S. Army in 1945 and mustered out of the 4th Division during WWII and left the Guard in 1946. In 1953 he founded his company the C.F. Murphy Inc., Plumbing and Heating and was involved with the business until his death. He was joined in 1956 by his son James; in 1962 by his son Dennis; and by his grandson, John in 1988. Mr. Murphy was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and had served on the vestry. He was a member of the Frederick County Master Plumbers Association, the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Civitans, the Francis Scott Key American Legion Post #11, the Frederick County Fish and Game Protective Association, the B.P.O. of the Elks Lodge #684, and was at one time active with the Boy Scouts. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children and their families, daughter Nancy M. Walker and husband Edward, of Bethesda, granddaughter, Susan Scola and husband George, and great-grandchildren Joseph and Rachel Scola, granddaughter Carole Potter and husband Andrew, and great-grandchildren, Meredith, Shannon and Christopher Potter; daughter-in-law, Sally G. Murphy, of Mt. Ulla, N.C., granddaughter Caroline McAllister and husband Daniel, and great- grandson Patrick McAllister, granddaughter Beth Snover and husband, Jay, great- grandson, Graham, Madison, and Kelly Murphy; son Dennis Murphy and wife Sandra, of Frederick, and grandchildren, John and Erin Murphy; daughter Marjorie Pittinger and husband Nelson, of Frederick, granddaughter, Emily Kuster and husband, Michael, great-grandchildren, Kathleen and Jackson Kuster, and grandchildren Adrian and Eleanor Pittinger; one sister, Sarah Graves, of Hagerstown; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, James M. Murphy in 1988, two brothers, James M. Murphy and John H. Murphy, three sisters, Mary Clingan, Ruth Cassidy and Nettie Grimes. Funeral services were held on Nov. 30 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 106 W. Church St., Frederick. The Rev. James R. Seale, rector and the Rev. Joell B. Szachara, associate rector, officiated. Interment was in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Carmel United Methodist Church, Old Baltimore Road, Frederick, MD 21704. Nettie Lou Poole Mrs. Nettie Lou Poole, 75, of Derwood, died Nov. 25, 2002, at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney. Born Aug. 6, 1927, in BuckLodge a daughter of the late Jacob and Beulah Johnson, she was the wife of the late Raymond E. Poole. Mrs. Poole was a graduate of Poolesville High School. She retired from Safeway as a cashier after approximately 25 years of service. She was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Germantown and more recently had attended United Methodist Temple in Lakeland, Fla., and the Oakdale Emory United Methodist Church in Olney. She is survived by three daughters, Sally J. Staley of Mt. Airy, Diana L. Davis of Derwood and Joy D. Bowling of Lakeland, Fla.; six grandchildren, Walter "Stoney" Davis of Mt. Airy, Michelle I. Adcock of Martinsburg, W. Va., George Stanley Davis Jr. of Mt. Airy, David L. Davis Jr. of Clarksburg and Ronald E. Bowling Jr. and Cory S. Bowling of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister, Beatrice Lacetti of Germantown; and two brothers, Jacob Johnson of Frederick and Frank Johnson of Martinsburg, W. Va. Funeral services were held Nov. 30 at Oakdale Emory United Methodist Church, Olney. Burial was in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. *****Dec. 19, 2002***** Warner C. Bogley Warner C. Bogley, 89, of Frederick, formerly of Silver Spring, died on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick. Born July 7, 1913 in Rockville, Md. he was the son of the late Chester C. and Mary Gertude Bean Bogley. He was the husband of Vivian E. Bogley to whom he had been married for 69 years. Mr. Bogley had attended school in Montgomery County. He was a charter member of the North Bethesda United Methodist Church in Bethesda. He had worked as an electrician for Union Station in Washington, D.C. where he retired after approximately 40 years of service. His hobby was woodworking. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Shirley Taylor of Fredericksburg, Va., Christine Taylor of Fredericksburg, Va., Evelyn Fox of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Carol Demuth of Martinsburg. W.Va. and Lynda Clemons of Rockville; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren. Friends may visit with the family at the Muriel H. Barer Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville, Md. on Friday, Dec. 20 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., the time of the funeral service. The Rev. Deborah Scott, pastor of the North Bethesda United Methodist Church, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Bethesda United Methodist Church, 10100 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, Md. 20817. Interment is private.
