The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** *****Feb. 6, 2003***** Margaret Lebherz Mrs. Margaret "Sis" Staley Lebherz, 80, of 1001 Carroll Parkway, Brooklawn Apartments, Frederick, died on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C., following complications from a massive heart attack. She was the wife of William Bennet Lebherz Jr, her husband of over 60 years. They were married Dec. 12, 1922, in Paris, Texas. Born in Frederick on May 7, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Francis Xavier and Florence Scarff Lamar Staley. Mrs. Lebherz was a lifelong Roman Catholic, and a member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Libertytown since 1988. Due to her husband's business activities, Sis and her family moved in 1966 to Northampton, Mass; to Cleveland Heights, Ohio; to Aurora, Ill; to Plymouth, Mich; to Woodstock, N.Y., and Westboro, Mass., before returning to Frederick in 1982. Mrs. Lebherz was an experienced homemaker; a first-rate cookie and caramel maker, especially of her renowned tart gingersnaps, and was a maker of homemade pickles and catsup. She loved gardening; was recently past president of the Casual Garden Club; co-founder of the Saturday Night Social Club, in 1946; and was an avid skilled bridge player. Surviving in addition to her husband are four local sons and three out-of- state daughters, William B. III, and wife, Diane McKay Lebherz; Susan L. Gontarz, and husband, Paul J, of Chelmsford, Mass, Charles F. and wife, Patti Hiner Lebherz, of Frederick, John T. and wife, Mary McGrain Lebherz, Joseph E. and Eileen Rafferty Lebherz; Margaret L. and husband, Alan P. Guncik, Cleveland Heights, Ohio; and Anne K. and husband, Michael J. Berry of Aurora, Ill.; one brother, Lt. Col. Francis X. Staley, USFA Ret., of Frederick. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, Tania L. and Madison T. Tse, of Laurel, Sarah Lebherz, of Frederick; John A., William P., Rebecca J., and Keith R. Gontarz, of Chelmsford, Tara L. and Natalie L. Lebherz, Laura A. and Elizabeth A. Lebherz, Luke J., Emma K. and Jane L. Lebherz, all of Frederick; Thomas A. Guncik, of Cleveland Heights; Michael J. Jr, Vincent L. Melissa A., Stephen F. and Anthony W. Berry, all of Aurora, Ill.; and several cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6 at Saint John's Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the St. John Regional Catholic School Capital Campaign, 114 East Second Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Patricia W. Wrisley Patricia W. Wrisley died on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, in Takoma Park. She was the beloved wife of the late, Roger A. Wrisley and mother of the late, JoAnn Wrisley. She is survived by three children, Jane M. Wrisley of Virginia Beach, Va.; Roger A. Wrisley and wife, Claire of Walkersville; and Judy W. Willis and husband, Thomas of New Market; and five grandchildren, Rose Christopher, Patrick and Mick Wrisley, and Jackye and Jake Willis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of choice. *****Feb. 13, 2003***** John Ronald Nusbaum Mr. John Ronald "Jack" Nusbaum, 68, of Frederick died suddenly on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 in Fort Myers, Fla. He was the husband of Charlotte Brown Nusbaum. Born on Feb. 4, 1935 in Libertytown, he was the son of the late Anthony and Helen Jamison Nusbaum. A brother, Anthony Nusbaum preceded him in death. A retired salesman with Moore Business Forms for 35 years, Jack was a member of the Glade United Church of Christ in Walkersville. He belonged to the retired employees group of Moore Business Forms in Thurmont. An avid reader, he enjoyed all sports, especially tennis and spending time at the beach. Jack's main joy in life was spending time with his grandsons. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, John Reginald "Reg" Nusbaum and wife Pamela of Walkersville; Jay Allen Nusbaum and wife Angela, of Jefferson; three grandsons, Ryan, Brady and Collin Nusbaum. Memorial services will be held on Friday, Feb. 14, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Glade United Church of Christ with Dr. Gerald C. Hanberry officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 2 to 9 p.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home at 40 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Glade United Church of Christ, 21 Fulton Avenue, Walkersville, MD 21793, or to the charity of one's choice. Donald Joseph Lucas Mr. Donald Joseph Lucas, 78, of Westminster died on Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 at Carroll County Hospital in Westminster. Born Sept. 10, 1924 in Rockville, he was a son of the late George Lee and Elizabeth Johnson Lucas. He is survived by two sisters: Mildred Fink of Washington Grove and Cora B. Stup of Middletown. Also, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Lucas has served in the Army Air Force in World War II in the India - Burma Theater. He was a graduate of Rockville High School. He had worked as a psychiatric technician in California and Oregon before retirement. He had lived in Westminster for the past 11 years and was very active in the Senior Citizens Association. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 14, 2003 at noon at the Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery in Derwood. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the charity of ones choice. *****Feb. 27, 2003***** Lloyd Malhon Daniel Arnold Mr. Lloyd Malhon Daniel Arnold, 86, of Frederick, formerly of Bethesda, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003 in the Beverly Healthcare of Frederick. He was the husband of Virginia Hanna Arnold, his wife of 57 years. Born in Burkittsville on March 24, 1916 he was the son of the late Harry R. C. and Nellie Bussard Arnold. He graduated from Frederick High School in 1933, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received a master degree from Southern University in Washington, DC in 1956. He retired as a budget analyst with the Department of the Army, Harry Diamond Laboratories in 1979 after 28 years of government service. Mr. Arnold was an active member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren. He was a member of the Men's Bible Class, the Morning Singers and served for several years on the financial committee. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Gene F. Arnold of Frederick; a daughter, Melody A. Ross and husband Thomas of Medina, Ohio; three grandchildren, Adrienne J. Ross, Lakewood, Ohio Allison C. Ross of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and Alicia A. Ross of Medina, Ohio; one sister, Mary Arnold Jones, of Vienna, Va.: several nieces and nephews also survive him. Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by one sister, Maude Arnold Foster; and one brother, Richard Harry Arnold, Sr. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick with the Revs. Thomas Fralin and R, James Flora officiating. Burial will follow in the Evangelical Lutheran Church Zion Cemetery in Middletown. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Anne Schlossenberg Anne Schlossenberg, 48, of Beltsville died Feb. 22, 2003, at Johns Hopkins University Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of Ellis Schlossenberg. She had been the secretary at Calverton Elementary School. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Samuel Matthew Schlossenberg; her parents, George and Mary Mutimer; a brother, Paul Mutimer; three sisters, Therese McGee and husband Charlie, Monica Wiley and husband Steven, and Margaret Potter and husband Stephen; and many nieces and nephews. A graduate of Springbrook High School, she has many family and friends in Montgomery County. Funeral service were held at Congregation Oseh Shalom in Laurel on Monday. Burial was Wednesday at King David Memorial Gardens in Falls Church, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Johns Hopkins University Hospital.
