Mathis Mrs. Darlene Young Mathis, 45, of Dallas, and formerly of Frederick and Gaithersburg, died suddenly on April 15, 2003. She was the wife of Jubal Mathis. Born Sept. 20, 1957, she was a foster daughter of John and Mary Key of Urbana. Survivors in addition to her husband and parents include five brothers: Richard Hill of Hagerstown, Donald Hill and his wife, Betty, of Frederick, David Key of Ijamsville, Larry Key and Jack Stewart, both of Frederick; six sisters: Alice Key of Germantown, Bonnie Key and her husband, Edward Abbott of Union Bridge, Judith Owens and her husband, David of Walkersville, Deborah Bay and her husband, Thomas of Salt Lake City, Utah, Janice Shipley of Montgomery, Ala., and Nancy Key of Bronx, N.Y.; four nieces: Mari Hannon and her husband, Patrick, of Ellicott City, Heidi Weaver and her husband, Travis, of Salt Lake City, April Key of Walkersville, and Melanie Lescher and her husband, Sean, of Harrington, Del.; and four nephews: Rick and John Hill of Frederick and Ethan and Mitchell Bay of Salt Lake City. A memorial service was held April 19 at Lotts Mortuary, Dallas. A local memorial service will be held this Sunday at the home of John and Mary Key, 3909 Urbana Pike, Frederick. Nicholas Chaconas Sr. Nicholas J. Chaconas Sr., 87, of Frederick, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at his son's home in Mount Airy. He was born Nov. 14, 1915, in Washington, D.C., the son of the late James Chaconas and the late Virginia (nee Borris) Chaconas. He was a self-employed electrical engineer. He was the husband of the late Margaret May (nee Brown) Chaconas. Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Adamson of Waldorf; three sons, Nicholas J. Chaconas Jr. of Mount Airy, William Thomas Chaconas of Silver Spring and Joseph Chaconas of Prince George County; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial Mass will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Shrine Parish Church, 16150 St. Anthony Road, Emmitsburg, with Father James W. Hannon officiating.
