McCormack Irene E. McCormack, 76, of New Market, and formerly of Milltown, N.J., died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at her residence. She was the wife of Sherwood McCormack, her husband of 56 years. Born June 28, 1927, in South River, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Susanna Raki Hudak. She was an assistant to the clerk of the Borough of Milltown, N.J. Mrs. McCormack was a member of the Monocacy Valley Church in Ijamsville. She enjoyed gardening, going to the Kennedy Center with her daughter, but most of all spending time and traveling with her family. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Bonnie Saylor and husband Robert of New Market; two grandchildren, Clayton Saylor and Eleanor Saylor, both of New Market; and a brother, Julius Hudak of Egg Harbor, N.J. Funeral services were held Nov. 5 at Stauffer Funeral Home, Mount Airy, with the Rev. Mark Vandermeer of Monocacy Valley Church officiating. Interment is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mount Airy. Bell Dorsey William Bell, 84, of Dayton, Md., died on Friday, October 31, 2003, at the Howard County General Hospital. Born on March 5, 1919, in Dayton, he was the son of the late Austin Wilbur and Edith Mae Gray Bell. He was the husband of 66 years of Mildred VanHorn Bell of Dayton. Mr. Bell had been a superintendent for Murkirk Mineral Pigment Co. in Murkirk, Md., for over 35 years. He had served in the 127th Regiment, 32nd Division of the US Army. He was a member for more than 50 years of the Solomon Masonic Lodge #121, Savage. Surviving in addition to his wife are son and daughter-in-law, Carroll and Judy Bell of Littlestown, Pa.; son Gary Bell of Dayton; and sons and daughters- in-law, Donald and Loretta Bell of New Market, Robert and Doris Bell of Romney, W.Va., and Dwight and Dorothy Bell of New Windsor. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and was expecting his first great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Ann "Tish" Bell, who died in 1998, and his grandparents, Ira and Effie Gray. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, Sykesville, with Pastor Quentin Tate officiating. Interment is in Linthicum Chapel Cemetery, Clarksville. Lester L. Rochester Lester "Rocky" Leroy Rochester, 90, of Damascus, died Oct. 25, 2003, at his home. Born Nov. 26, 1912, in Oak Harbor, Ohio, he was a son of the late August and Nettie Wanger Rochester. He was husband to the late Clara Belle Lenke Rochester, who died in 1998. Survivors include four children, Peggy Ford and her husband, John, of Gaithersburg; Larry Rochester and his wife, Carolyn, of Woodbine; Jerry Rochester and his wife, Karen, of Frederick; and Dennis Rochester and his wife, Lynne, of Columbia; one brother, Norman Rochester of Ohio and Florida; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday with Nathan Crouse presiding. Burial was in Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville. *****Nov. 13, 2003***** Kari J. Main Kari Jean Main, 20, of Walkersville, died on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Johns Hopkins Hospital from an acute illness. Born on July 7, 1983, in Baltimore she was the daughter of G. Monroe and Emma C. Bollinger Main of Walkersville. Kari Jean was a 2002 graduate of Walkersville High School and was a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Walkersville where she served as an usher. She also was a member of the Walkersville Volunteer Rescue Company and enjoyed helping and socializing in the activities and fund-raisers within the company. Miss Main helped with the activities in the New Midway Volunteer Fire Department as well. Kari Jean volunteered at the FMH Wellness Center in FSK Mall and at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She also enjoyed participating in sports and activities at the Bennett Institute in Baltimore. She was a great swimmer. Kari Jean was a delightful and kind human being who spread her love to anyone she met and especially to children. She always had a smile on her face bringing a smile to yours. For the past two years, Kari Jean took pride in caring for her dog, Chipper, and loved being part of his life. Surviving in addition to her parents are two brothers: Craig Monroe Main and wife Erin of Frederick and Andrew William Main and wife Anne of Taneytown; maternal grandparents William R. and Carrie R. Bollinger of New Midway; paternal grandmother A. Jeanne Main of Walkersville; as well as many special friends and relatives including: Bobby Van Dyke, Karen Ballew, Laura Bloom, Paul, Lori and Lukas Hoffman, Lynn Hoch, Nancy Harley and Betty Phillips. Miss Main was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Gordon D. Main. Arrangements were handled by Stauffer Funeral Home, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Wednesday at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church, Walkersville, with the Rev. Richard J. Murphy as celebrant. Interment is in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro, with Paul Hoffman, Ray Martin III, Eric Martin, Wade Milyard, Luke Milyard and Melissa Milyard served as pallbearers and Todd Milyard serving as an honorary pallbearer. Box 202, Walkersville, MD 21793 or to New Midway Volunteer Fire Co., 12045 Woodsboro Pike, New Midway, MD 21775. Harry S. Ransom Sr. Harry S. Ransom Sr., 72, of Woodbine, died on Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at the Washington Adventist Hospital. Born on January 18, 1931, in Port Arthur, Texas, he was the son of the late Samuel Houston and Merion Elizabeth Sherrill Ransom. He was the husband of Eloise Imrie Ransom of Woodbine. Mr. Ransom was a graduate of the Pennsylvania Military College, now known as Widener College in Chester, Pa., and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked as a mechanical engineer for the Naval Service Weapons Center formerly known as the Naval Ordinance Lab and was a charter member of the Shepherd of the Glen Lutheran Church, Glenwood. His pastimes included membership in several bridge clubs, namely the Kings and Queens and the Duplicate Bridge Club, fishing, gardening and building jigsaw puzzles. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons and daughters-in-law Harry S. and Stephanie Ransom, Jr. of Mount Airy, Robert E. and Sharon Ransom of Lisbon and William A. and Clarice Ransom of Fairfax, Va.; daughter, Judy Lynn Ransom of Marshall, Mo. and daughter and son-in-law Merion Elizabeth and Scott Kendall of Anchorage, Alaska. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 10 at Shepherd of the Glen Lutheran Church, 14551 Burntwoods Rd., Glenwood. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Glenwood. Arrangements were made by Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, Sykesville.
