Carmack Mrs. Alice Eileen Steiner Carmack, 76, died at her home in Frederick after a brief battle with cancer, on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004. She was the wife of Marion D. Carmack for 56 years. Born in Jefferson on June 9, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Francis Leo and Ruth E. Smith Steiner. Mrs. Carmack was a 1946 graduate of Brunswick High School, and graduated from the Marinello Beauty School in Baltimore in December of that same year. She later was associated with the Ecker Beauty Shop in downtown Frederick. She had served as secretary for a number of years of the PTA of East Frederick Elementary School and was a member of the East Frederick Homemaker Club. She was a member of the Good Samaritan of the Frederick Memorial Hospital, and of the Frederick County Agricultural Society. Surviving in addition to her husband, are three daughters, Faith Ann Hale and husband, Eugene R. of Knoxville, Nancy Lee Eppley and fiancé William R. Harding of Middletown, and Terry C. Lambert and husband, Donald E. of Frederick, one son, Robert S. Carmack and wife Linda of Frederick; two sisters, Leona Steiner Beers of Seaford, Del. and Winifred Steiner Kohlhoss of Poolesville. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Marion D. and Alice E. Carmack Endowment Fund, in care of the Community Foundation of Frederick County, 312 E. Church St., Frederick, 21701.
