Alltop Mrs. Kathryn M. Alltop, 86, of Mount Airy, formerly of Ormond Beach, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Kline Hospice House, Mount Airy. Born on Oct. 3, 1918, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late James Joseph and Martha Elliot Welsh Loughry. Mrs. Alltop was a switchboard operator for Nationwide Insurance Company for 30 years and also worked at what is now South Florida Hospital in Ormond Beach for 15 years. She enjoyed reading, taking walks at the mall with her friends and truly loved living right on the beach in Florida. Surviving are a son, Lacoe Alltop and wife Shelly of Mount Airy and two grandchildren, John L. Alltop and wife Cynthia and Robert M. Jordan, all of Frederick Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mount Airy. Inurnment will take place in Florida at a later date. Dec. 17, 2004 Charles Burdette Sr. Charles "Butch" Burdette Sr., 64, of New Windsor, died on Friday Dec. 10, 2004, at home. He was born March 26, 1940 in Bartonsville, Md., the son of the late Rodney Cleveland Burdette Jr. and the late Laura Evelyn Virginia May Burdette. He was a glass mechanic for Burdette Glass Co. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter. Mr. Burdette is survived by his wife, Sharon Lee Poland Burdette; children, Charles R. Jr. and Diane Burdette of New Windsor, Virginia J. and Franklin Remsburg Jr. of Point of Rocks, Md., Randy and Gina Burdette of Taneytown, and Shawn Burdette and Charles White of New Windsor; sisters Ann Stockman of Middletown, Rebecca Barthel of Hagerstown and Linda Main of Libertytown; grandchildren Jesse, Lindsay, Franklin III, Ryan, Carmella, Jerry, Shatana and Laura and great grandchildren Kyla and Cameron. Muth, 83, of Frederick, formerly of Gaithersburg, died of unknown natural causes on Dec. 11, 2004, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born Dec. 21, 1920, in Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Stanley Kwolek and Emilia Buraczewska. She was the wife of the late Edward P. Muth for 61 years. Survivors include two sons, Craig A. Muth and wife Susan of Manassas, Va., and Glenn D. Muth and wife Jean of Thurmont, and five grandchildren. A viewing will be held from noon-1 p.m today at DeVol Funeral Home, 10 E. Born May 4, 1936, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Kathleen Kriete. She was the wife of the late Dewey C. Asbury. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Dale and Helen Asbury of Woodstock and Daryl and Debbie Asbury of Tazwell, Va.; daughters and sons-in-law Joyce and Ed Tierany of Randallstown and Lori and Don Schott of Towson; sisters Arlene Geppi, Rosalie Cerquettie, Beverly Griffith and Joan Latta; brothers Dennis and Charles Kriete; grandchildren Christy and Wayne Miller, David Asbury, Mike Haines, Nickole Bange, Heather and Tom Weiss, and Chrissy and John Meadows; and great-grandchildren Kevin Miller and Brittany and Allen Weiss. Interment is in Meadowridge Memorial Park. George J. Galeano George J. Galeano, 57, of Woodbine died Dec. 17, 2004. He was born Oct. 28, 1946, in Washington, D.C., the son of Olive M. Miller Galeano and the late Charles J. Galeano. He was the husband of Catherine A. Schneiders Galeano. Mr. Galeano was a service technician for MI Homes. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1967. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. Survivors, besides his wife, include his children, Cynthia M. Galeano of Germantown and Edward C. Galeano of Ft. Myers, Fla.; sisters and brothers-in-law Cheryl and Robert Kemp of Potomac, Tina and Charles Miller of Damascus, Jennifer and John Ferguson of Olney, Mary Ali and Delair of Garrett Park, and Teresa and Robert Overly of Gaithersburg; brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Susan Galeano of Silver Spring and sister-in-law and husband Susan and John Gartner of Longs, S.C. He is also survived by 30 nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass was celebrated Monday at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Libertytown. She was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of the late Paul and Efrozina Lasko. She worked as a cook for Woodlawn Pharmacy before retiring. She was a member of St. Andrews Orthodox Church in Baltimore and more recently a member of the Orthodox church of St. Matthew in Columbia. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law William and Deborah Hinsche of Westminster, Paul and Shirleen Hinsche of Westminster, and Daniel and Sandy Hinsche of Mount Airy; sisters Effie Kolick of Woodlawn and Pauline Rachuba of Dundalk; grandchildren Dana Facius, Timothy and Adam Hinsche, and Steve Alexander and Angela Stull; and great-grandchildren Luke and Meghan Hinsche, Reagan Facius and Zane Stull. Born May 30, 1918, in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Clyde A. and Mamie Horan Bastin. She was the wife of the late Ralph W. Young Jr. She had been a teacher's aide. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Bud and Wanda Young of Baltimore, son Gary Young of Taylorsville and son and daughter-in-law Bill and Fran Young of Taneytown; sister Lucille Bowen of Westminster; grandchildren Bill Young Jr. and Kathy Young; step-grandchildren Craig R. and Amber Pace and Kevin and Karen Pace; great-grandchildren James, Ryan and Jessica Young; and step-great- granddaughter Megan Pace. Zeigler, 89, of Damascus died Dec. 14, 2004, at her home while being attended to by her family. She was born in Lewisdale and received her education at the Purdum Schoolhouse, now known as Pleasant Grove Christian Church. She was the oldest member of the church and the ladies' auxiliary. She is survived by her children, Charles of Frederick, William of Savannah, Ga., Anne Mae of Gaithersburg, Evelyn Watson and husband Sylvester of Los Angeles, Joyce of Damascus, Frances of Frederick, John M. of Mount Airy and Kathie Hackey-Dorsey of Germantown; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Broening-Casgar, 40, of Chambersburg, Pa., formerly of Germantown and Frederick County, died Dec. 14, 2004 in a car accident in Radford, Va. Born Nov. 12, 1964 in New York, she was the daughter of LaRue Hamil of Hobe Sound, Fla. and the late Paul Kercher. She was the wife of Adam M. Casgar for two years. Survivors, in addition to her husband and mother, include five children, David P. Broening, Stefan M. Broening, Paul T. Broening, Kristin M. Broening and Cooper M. Casgar, two sisters, Cindy Brereton of Freehold, N.J. and Barbara Lamb of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. and one brother, David Kercher, of Long Island, N.Y. Ziegler Mrs. Allie Elizabeth Zeigler, 89, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at her home while being attended to by her family. Grimes Sr., 88, of Woodfield died Dec. 22, 2004, at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney. He was the husband of Jessie E. Grimes. Born Oct. 31, 1916, in Woodfield, he was a son of the late Samuel F. and Bertie Duvall Grimes. Mr. Grimes served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 171 in Damascus and the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and a lifelong member of Wesley Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Grimes was a carpenter. He worked as a foreman for Haines Construction Company in Damascus and later operated his own business, Grimes Home Improvements. Surviving beside his wife are three children, Roberta A. Grimes of Woodfield, Frank Grimes Jr. and his wife, Joan, of Berlin, and Samuel Grimes and his wife, Anna, of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Dean Grimes and wife Susan, Scott Grimes, Tommy Grimes, Sam Grimes Jr. and wife Jennifer, Amy Grimes and Sean Grimes; three great-grandchildren, Brittany Grimes, Emily Grimes and Elliott Grimes. Mr. Grimes will also be remembered by a special neighbor, Elsie Keller. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Denise Grimes, and sister, Janie Hawkins. Johnson, 35, of Cockeysville, formerly of Westminster, died Dec. 26, 2004, at the University Hospital Shock Trauma Unit, from injuries received in an automobile accident. Born Aug. 8, 1969, in Towson, she was the daughter of Dr. Niel J. and JoAnne Kissinger Borrelli of Westminster. She was the wife of Robert Johnson, whom she married on Nov. 18, 1998. She was a 1987 graduate of Westminster High School and received a bachelor of science degree from Towson University in geology. She was in the master's program in environmental sciences at Towson University. She was employed as an environmental scientist at EBI Consulting in York, Pa. She was certified in multiple areas of inspection. She was an active member of the Geological Society of America. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking, kayaking and skiing. She had a keen interest in a clean environment, with a special interest in the Chesapeake Bay. Surviving in addition to her parents and husband, are sister and brother-in- law Nicole D. and Loren Estes of Eldersburg; aunts and uncles Frank and Jean Borrelli of Belmont, Vt., and Sandra and Dr. Renzo Ricci of Finksburg; cousins Heather, Barbara, Allison, Daniela, Frank, Matteo and Susanne; father-in-law Robert Johnson; grandmother-in-law Helen Phillips; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Steve, Gail, Eric and David Johnson. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, with Monsignor Arthur F. Valenzanno as the celebrant. Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster. Conaway Woodson, 74, of Keymar, died December 25, 2004, at Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster. She was born May 13, 1930, in Carroll County, the daughter of the late Theodore C. Conaway and the late Callie Morris Conaway. She was a member of Middleburg United Methodist Church. She was the wife of the late Andy A. Woodson, Sr. Survivors include her children, Judy Lee Hoffman of Union Bridge, Patsy A. Staley of Taneytown, Andrea L. Hajzer of Keymar and Andy A. Woodson, Jr. of Middleburg; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral and interment will be private.
