When his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Leatherman, of Thurmont, called about 3 p.m. to pay him a visit, Mr. Harper was found dead in bed. He lived alone at the Hansonville residence since the death of his wife, last July. The Frederick County medical examiner was called and gave a verdict of death from natural causes, a heart ailment. He said the deceased had died quietly in his sleep about 12 hours before his body was found by members of the family. A native of Frederick county, son of the late Richard K. and Phoebe Ann Craver Harper; he was in his usual good health and at work redecorating a Walkersville house Saturday. He was seen by a friend at his home, at 9 p.m. Saturday and did not complain of any illness. Started At Age Of 15 He started his trade as a painter with hs father, when he was only 15 years of age. Later he and a twin-brother formed the well-known contracting firm of Harper Bros. The twin Calvin Harper predeceased him. A lifelong member of the Utica Lutheran church and that Sunday school, Mr. Harper was at the time of his death a member of the church council. He also held membership in the Glade Valley No. 112 Jr. O U. A. M., at Walkersville. Surviving him are these children, Mrs. Robert Leatherman, Thurmont; Maynard Harper, Rockville; Allen Haper, Jr., Walkersville; Mrs. Louis Mutz, Bethany, Okla.; Mrs. Charles Hawkins, Silver Spring; a brother and sister, Norman Harper, Hansonville, and Mrs. Wm. Shoemaker, Hansonville; another sister, Mrs. Henry Stottlemeyer, Washington, D. C.; six grandchildren. The body rest at the funeral home in Walkersville, where friends may call until it is removed to the late residence to rest after 2 p.m., Wednesday. Funeral services will be held meeting there Thursday morning, 10:30 o’clock, with final rites at Utica Lutheran church. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. G. C. Barton, funeral director.
