His death is attributed to internal injuries received in the June disaster of 1877 at Point of Rocks. His occupation was that of hotel clerk and at the time of his death was engaged at the Carlin House, this city. His first connection with the business here was with the City Hotel, in 1871. Mr. F. B. Carlin, deceased, who was at that time manager of the house, met Mr. Knodle at the hotel then kept on South Mountain, where Mr. Dahlgrene now resides, and being pleased with his general demeanor, tendered him a position at the City. He was occupied here until the accident at Point of Rocks, in which he received a number of injuries. When able to be about he clerked at the Carlin House until the time of his death. The deceased was born in 1839 and is hence in his forty-fifth year of his age. He was unmarried. The funeral took place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
