Mrs. Alice Phoebe Koons

Mrs. Alice Phoebe Koons, wife of the late Peter Donaldson Koons, died at the 
home of her son and daughter in law, Mr. and Mrs. P. D. Koons, 16 East Second 
street, Wednesday afternoon at 2.30 o’clock after being taken with a heart 
attack.  The deceased was an active member of the Lutheran church Keysville and 
was also a member of the Samaritan Rebecca Lodge.  She was the daughter of the 
late Adam D. and Serepta (Anders) Birely, of the vicinity of Ladiesburg, this 
county.  Besides her son she is survived by a daughter Clara B. Pypelink, 
Philadelphia.  Also the following brothers:  Elmer Birely, Woodsboro, J. C. 
Birely, Philadephia, William Birely, Key Mar, F. H. Birely, Ladiesburg and C. 
E. Birely, Philadephia.  Also two grandchildren, Miss E. Winifred Koons, New 
York City, and Miss Jeanette Koons, Frederick.
  The body is now at the funeral home 8 East Patrick street.  They will later 
be removed to the home of her son on East Second street.  Funeral arrangements 
will be announced later.  C. E. Cline and Son, funeral directors.
