The Daily News, Frederick, Maryland, Wednesday, 22 January 1890

At the family residence, East Patrick street, yesterday afternoon at 2 30 o’clock,
Mrs. Mary, wife of Mr. Wm. S. Miller.  After a brief illness of pneumonia, contracted 
but a week ago, death has claimed for his own one who in all relations of life was an 
exemplary woman.  Mild and amiable in character, a pleasant companion, a devoted wife 
and mother she has ever been high esteemed amongst a large circle of relatives and 
friends.  Mrs. Miller was in the 67th year of her age; her maiden name was Mary 
Buckey, daughter of the late Daniel Buckey of this county.  She belonged to a well-
known family.  Buckeystown being named after her grandfather Buckey.  Of her immediate 
family Mrs. Virginia, widow of the late Col. C. Keefer Thoms, is the only living 
member.  Mrs. Miller leaves a husband and five children:  Mrs. Wm. Denegre, of 
Philadelphia; Mrs. Wm. Ford, Brooklyn; Wm. Miller, Iowa; Daniel B. and Miss Isabel 
Miller of this city.  The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock; 
interment at Mt. Olivet.
