Mr. John Oates, residing on East street, facing second, died 
last Wednesday, it is supposed, of kidney disease.  He was 
about 83 years old.  By occupation he was a day laborer and 
for a number of years was superintendent of St. John’s 
Catholic Cemetery.  He leaves a wife and six grown children.  
The funeral took  place Saturday morning at nine o’clock.
