Although he had been ill with rheumatism several weeks ago he had not been troubled previously by his heart. Son of the late Otho Augusta and Elizabeth Smith Shank, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Shank; one son, Melvin L., of Catonsville; two brothers, Clarence, Taneytown, and John Shank, Florida, and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Garner and Mrs. Alura [sic] Newcomer, both of Taneytown. He was a member of the Johnsville Methodist church and was employed at the Western Maryland Railroad shop in Union Bridge. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1.30 o’clock at the late home, Rev. Ernest Colwell officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery, Woodsboro. Pallbearers will be Paul Grossnickle, Roy Snyder, C. D. Metz, Frank Grabill, Harry Holsopple and Roy Bond. Raymond K. Wright is in charge of funeral arrangements.
