At the age of 21 he succeeded his father in the mercantile business
In business with his brother, the late David V Stauffer, in the mercantile 
business on North Market St, Frederick
Member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Walkersville
Survived by wife and 6 children
Wife: the former Miss Ellen Nelson, daughter of the late Dr Robert W and Ellen 
Jones Nelson
