Marriage Notice

Charles O. Rosensteel to Mary Claudia Peters

Married - April 12, 1899

A very pretty wedding was solemnized in St Anthony’s Church on Wednesday 
morning, April 12 at 8 o’clock.  The contracting parties were Mr. Charles O. 
Rosensteel, of Mt St Mary’s, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rosensteel and Miss Mary 
C. Peters, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Peters.  Miss Ella Rosensteel was 
bridesmaid and Mr. John Peters was best man.  The bride and bridesmaid were 
very handsomely attired in suits of silver gray with hats and gloves to match 
and carried prayer books.  They entered the church to the strains of a 
beautiful wedding march played by Miss Emma Moore and were married by Rev J.B. 
Manley.  Before leaving the church they received the congratulations of many 
relatives and friends and many a handful of rice was thrown at the happy couple 
before entering the hack.  A dinner was served at the home of the bride and was 
largely attended by friends and relatives; there was also a delightful party 
given in the evening, which was largely attended and all had a pleasant time.

Dinner was served on Thursday at the home of the groom and a large crowd was 
present.  The happy couple ware serenaded in the evening by a fine string 
band.  The bride and groom received the good wishes of many for a long and 
prosperous life.  They were also the recipients of many valuable presents.

(This marriage notice clipping was found in a Bible belonging to William 
Rosensteel, a son of Mary and Charles, who lived in Baltimore, Maryland- 1980)
