All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ************************************************ George Cley’s Will In The Name of God Amen I George Cley of Frederick County in the province of Maryland one of the United States Farmer being in a Weak and low condition of Body But of perfect mind and memory to This day Thanks be to God for same but Calling to mind and knowing that once all Flesh must Die And considering the uncertainty of this present life do make and Ordain this present writing to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following That is to say First my soul I Commend to Almighty God that Gave it to me And my Body to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian like manner at the Discretion of my Executor And after all my Funeral Charges and Just Debts are paid I give and Bequeath my Estate in Manner and form following that is to say. First I appoint and Ordain my beloved Son Cley to be my whole and Sole Executor to Execute this my Last Will and Testament Item Secondly I Give and Bequeath to my Beloved Daughter Mary Koontz one hundred pounds Circulating Money And no more Item Thirdly I give and Bequeath to my beloved Son George Cley one hundred pounds Circulating Money And no more if he should Come in and if he should not Come in to Receive it I Give his part to my Beloved Son John Cley Item fourthly I Give and Bequeath to my Beloved Son John Cley all my Land it being part of a Tract of Land Called Burketts Folly And also all the other part of my personal Estate to him his heirs forever Item fifthly I hereby Revoke and Disannul all or any Will or Wills hereto made by me And further Acknowledge the Above Writing to be My Last Will and Testament Agreeable to my Desire in Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Affixed my Seal this Thirtieth day of October 1784 George G...y Cley {seal} his mark Testes Alexr. Frederick County November 16th 1784 Then Came John Cley and made Oath that the aforegoing Instrument of Writing is the True and Whole Will and Testament of George Cley late of Frederick County Deceased that hath Come to his Light and Knowledge and that he Doth not Know of any other Geo. Murdock Reg. Frederick county Nov 16th 1784 Then came Richard Roberts and Andrew Buzzard two of the Subscribing Witnesses to the aforegoing last Will and Testament of George Cley late of Frederick County Deceased and Solemnly Affirmed and Declared and made Oath that they did see the Testator therein Named Sign and Seal this Will and that they heard him Publish Pronounce and Declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their Apprehension of Sound and Disposing mind memory and understanding and that they repectively Subscribed their Names as Witnesses to this Will in the Presence and at the request of the Testator and that they did also see Alexander Falconer the other Subscribing Witness sign his Name as a Witness thereto in the Presence and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of Each Other Geo Murdock Reg.
