All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Cindy Clark [gonefishin@tctwest.net] Will of Robert Fulton, of Frederick County, Maryland, 7 Apr 1805 (probated 8 Oct 1806) In The Name of God Amen I Robert Fulton of Frederick County and State of Maryland being very weak of Body but of Perfect mind and memory thanks be to god calling unto mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I leave and recommend my soul unto the hands of the almighty God that gave it and my Body to the earth to be Buried in decent and Christian Burial at the discretion of my Executor nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the almighty power of God but as touching such worldly Estate where with it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and Dispose of the same in the following manner and form --- First I give to my beloved wife Margaret Fulton the Houses now in my Possession and one third of my land and personal estate her part and Dower there of lying on one side of the place most convenient to the House one Hundred pounds in the hands of Samuel Lilly to be paid to her by my Executor as soon as can be conveniently collected one horse one cow one feather bed the clock one ten plate pipe stove the chest and loom the oats and flax now sowed out on the place the thread and yarn now spun in the house and one Breeding sow now on the place & her saddle & bridle -- Secondly I give to my Daughter Mary White one Hundred Pounds to be paid out of my Personal Estate Thirdly I give to my Daughter Jean Springer Twenty Shillings if demanded -- I give to Robert Spring son of Jane Springer the sun of Fifty pounds to be paid after my lawfull Debt and heirs is paid --- Fourthly I give my son Nathaniel Fulton Twenty Shillings if demanded-- I give to Benjamin Fulton son of Nathaniel Fulton the sun of Fifty Pounds to be paid out of my Estate after all my Lawfull Debs and heirs is paid -- Fifthly I wish the remainder of my personal Estate after the above is Discharged to be equally divided between my son Robert Fulton and my two Daughters Margaret Browning and Elizabeth Baltzel--- I will and bequeath my Real Estate to my son Robert Fulton whome I appoint and constitute my sole Executor I will and bequeath to my two Daughter Margaret Browning and Elizabeth Baltzel one thousand pounds that is to say five hundred pounds each. Two thirds thereof to be paid out of my real Estate by my Executor Robert Fulton one Hundred pound annually this is to say fifty pounds to Margaret Browning annually and fifty pounds to Elizabeth Baltzel annually to commence immediately after my Death the other third to be paid as above after the Death of my wife Margaret Fulton I do herby revoke all other wills and Debts and acknoledge this to be my last will and Testament In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and five. Robert X Fulton his mark Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Joseph Hodges, John Baltzel John Gregg Frederick County October 8th 1806 then came Robert Fulton and made Oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God that the foregoing instrument of writing is the True whole will and Testament of Robert Fulton late of Frederick County Deceased that hath come to his hand and possession and that he doth not know of any other --- Richard Butler Regr. Frederick County October 8 1806 There came Joseph Hedges and John Baltzel two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing last will and Testament of Robert Fulton late of Frederick County Deceased and made Oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God that they did see the Testator therein named sign & seal this will that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last will in the presence and at the request of the Testator and that they did also see John Gregg the other subscribing witness sign his name as a witness to said will in the presence and at the request of the Testator and all in the presence of each other Richard Butler Regr.
