I, Henry Neff of Frederick County in the state of Maryland, being sick and weak in body but of a sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby being the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence, Do therefore make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following, First and principally I commit my soul unto the hand of Almighty God, and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named, and after my debts and funeral expenses are paid I give devise and bequeath as follows, to wit, I give and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth all and singular my real & personal estate for her to have and hold & enjoy the same during her natural life time, and after the decease of my wife then I order and direct that my Executor shall sell & dispose of my real & personal estate to the best advantage and the neat procedes thereof I give and bequeath share & share alike to all my sons & daughters to wit: Andrew Susanna Jacob Elizabeth John David & Frances to them their heirs and assigns, and in case any one of them should die in their minority in which case such deceased's child portion or legacy of my estate shall descend to the survivors children their heirs or assigns. Item I recommend the Guardianship and tuition of my children unto my wife during their minority and that she shall give them schooling my sons to read & write & my daughters to read perfectly. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Andrew Neff to be the whole and sole Executor of this my last Will & testament with full power and lawful authority for him to transfer and convey by a good and lawful deed of bargain and sale all my real estate whenever the same shall be sold by the direction of my will, revoking and annuling all former wills by me heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this & no other to be my last will & testatment -- In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty ninth day of November Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred fifteen.
