ELIZA C. BOYD Mrs. Eliza C. BOYD of Glenville, Harford county, died on Tuesday August 6th, aged 87 years two months and 1 day. Her death was peaceful, passing away as one going asleep. Burial took place at Harmony Presbyterian church on the 8th, services conducted by Revs. Charlton and Fitzgerald. Mrs. BOYD was the daughter of the late Wm. STUMP, of Harford county, and was born near Darlington, June 5, 1802. About the year of 1820 she was married to the late Stephen BOYD, of Peach Bottom township. They lived a few years in Peach Bottom township, and then removed to her farm near Lapidam, on which Wm. KENNEDY now lives. To them was born one child, which died in infancy. Her husband dying in 1854, she soon returned to her friends in Harford county. She took care of her feeble mother and her brother, the well known Henry STUMP, till they died, and then made her home till the time of her death with her niece, Mrs. Jeremiah P. SILVER, near Glenville. Besides the farm above referred to, she owned a farm of 260 acres near Havre de Grace. Mrs. BOYD was an intelligent woman of many excellent qualities. She took a great interest in public affairs generally, and was always pleased to learn of the prosperity of those around her, especially those in her employ. For the last ten or twelve years of her life she was nearly blind., but was at all times contented, cheerful and hopeful. Delta Herald and Time, Delta, Pennsylvania August 16, 1889 ------------- LOWER DEER CREEK ITEMS Mrs. Eliza C. BOYD died Tuesday August 6th, at the residence of J.P. SILVER, after an illness of ten days, in the 88th year of her age. She was the daughter of the late Wm. STUMP and the widow of Stephen BOYD, formerly of York county, Pa., who she survived more than thirty-five years. Although deprived of the sense of vision, she was always cheerful and never uttered a word of complaint, but submitted patiently to this great affliction. A large circle of friends will ever revere her memory, by whom she was held in the highest esteem. Those most intimately acquainted with her could best appreciate those noble traits of character which she possessed. Mrs. BOYD, although advanced in years, possessed a heart which was always in sympathy with the young, with whom she was a great favorite and by them usually called "Auntie." Notwithstanding the fact that her bodily health had greatly failed during the past year, yet she retained her mental faculties in a remarkable degree. Her memory remained unimpaired and her judgment reliable, and at the same time her interest in events of the today was unabated. Her funeral on Thursday was largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. D.B. Fitzgerald, assisted by Rev. J.W. Charlton, of the Hopewell M.P. church. The interment was at the Harmony church. The pall bearers were: Benj NOBLE, George B. SILVER, Ellis J. TUCKER, Wm. T. MACKISON, Wm. T. EASTER and Isaac WILSON A.P. August 10, 1889 Additional Comments: Two obituaries appeared on the same page.
