WHITEFORD threw a coal oil lamp, which was behaving badly, out in the yard, and when it had apparently gone out, picked it up when it exploded, burning most of her clothing and severely burning her. Delta Herald and Times, Delta, Pennsylvania page 2 July 28, 1899 ------------- CONSTITUTION ITEMS Mrs. Daniel M. WHITEFORD, who was reported last week so seriously burned by the explosion of a coal oil lamp, lingered until last Friday morning when death came to her relief. She bore her suffering calmly and patiently never making the least complaint, but frequently expressing her gratitude to those who had the care of her. The deceased was a good neighbor, a devoted wife and affectionate mother, possessing a kind an cheerful disposition toward every one. She is survived by a husband, three sons, two daughters and two brothers. Her funeral, which was largely attended, took place last Sunday morning at nine o'clock. Services were conducted at the house by Rev. A. G. Parker, pastor of Highland Presbyterian church. Interment in Slate Ridge cemetery. The pallbearers were Edward McGUIGAN, J. W. WISE, W. T.
