These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations. ************************************************************************ Will of Richard WELLS (Jr.) of Harford Co., Dated 20 January 1784, proved 29 June 1784 Be it remembered that I Richard Wells of the County of Harford and State of Maryland Farmer considering the uncertainty of time in this world and having hitherto through Du[blank space]d been favoured with the use of my rational Faculties think fit this twentieth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty four to make this my last will and Testament in manner following for disposing of that Temporal Estate wherewith it hath Pleased God to bless me in Order to Prevent as much as Possible all Controversies that mite otherwise arise concerning the Same or any part thereof. Imprimis my will is that all my Just Debts and Funeral Charges be well and truly paid in a convenient time after my Decease Item I give and Bequeath to my beloved wife Jane Wells my Negro girl Jane also the one third part of all my Real and Personal Estate of Every nature and kind whatsoever. Item I give and Bequeath to my Son Richard Wells the one half part of all my Real Estate that to be divided by Indiferent Persons and then he the said Richard Wells to take his first choice also me Negro man Jack Item I give and Bequeath to my Son Samuel Wells all the residue of my Real Estate. Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Cassandra Hawkins my Negro girl Rachael. Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Drusilla Wells my Negro girl Cate. Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Mary Wells my Negro girl Hannah, also my Negro boy Bobb. Item I give and Bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my Estate of Every nature and kind whatsoever, that is not herein otherwise Disposed of that is to say, to Cassandra Hawkins, Lurannah Hawkins, Elizabeth Barnes, Susanna Prigg, Richard Wells, Drusilla Wells, Samuel Wells, and Mary Wells my Children, Share & Share alike. And Lastly I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my beloved wife Jane Wells to be my Sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament. And I do hereby utterly dislow revoke and disanul all and Every other will and wills Legacies and Bequests and Executors by me at any time heretofore named willed or Bequeathed ratifying allowing and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the Day and Year before mentioned.
