My dating is derived from the court records trying to adjust to the new dating system. Just to note that in my column heading "Court Events," I just summarized their reason for being in the court records, some individuals have more information & others less. In some instances under this heading you will see an event followed by a number in parenthesis, this is to indication how many times in that year that they served that function. In my "Misc Notes" column, I added differences in spellings that occur for a particular individual's surname that appear in the records; additionally there are other notes dealing w/ family relationships and so on. When it is noted under the occupation as an individual being an "Attorney," this does not necessarily mean that they had the education or degree for that profession. Rather, the notation indicates when that specified individual was assigned attorney rights by another individual. 1656-57 Title First Name Last Name Age Occupation Court Event Misc Notes =============================================================================================================================================== Roger Baxter 46 gives deposition Thomas Belcher action of debt against John Erickson Richard Blunt acts as witness Mr Thomas Bradnox 58 acts as attorney for Thomas Belcher; gives deposition (2); action of debt against John Salter; action of slander against Margaret Mannering Francis Brookes Anthony Calloway arrested for debt Henry Carlien acts as witness; action of debt otherwise known as Carline against John Deare; action of debt against Edward Rogers; wishes to leave office of sheriff Elizabeth Clay 34 gives deposition Henry Clay gives deposition Mr Phillip Conner present at court otherwise known as Conier Gershon Cromwell 49 gives deposition; gives account of Thomas Hawkins' livestock John Deare acquitted of a felony; action of debt against Isack Ilive; forbidden to into woods alone due to his frequent killing of cattle & claiming them as his own Thomas Dickes 21 gives deposition Thomas Dikes 21 gives deposition; witness to Luis Palpilion will John Dobb released from debt otherwise known as Dabb/s Robert Dunn gives deposition otherwise known as Dunne Andrew Ellenor William Elleoyet acts as witness (2); action of otherwise known as Eliot, Elliot, Ellyeott debt against Thomas South; present at court; appraiser of Thomas Hawkins estate John Ellis John Erickson confesses to debt owed Capt otherwise known as Ereckson William Fuller; gives deposition Mr Seath Faster action of debt against estate of otherwise known as Seth Foster John Squibb John Gibson registers his livestock mark Miss Ruth Hill makes claim against father's daughter of Thomas Hill Sr estate Thomas [Jr] Hill gives deposition; appointed Constable Mr Thomas [Sr] Hill action of debt against Thomas Ward Mrs. Ann Hinson 43 gives deposition wife of Thomas Hinson Thomas Hinson acts as witness (3); action of slander against Matthew Reade; present at court; appraiser of Thomas Hawkins estate; appraiser of Thomas Hill Sr estate James Horner gives deposition Robert Houlton appointed Constable; witness to otherwise known as Holton Luis Palpilion will Edward Hull 35 gives deposition; gives account of Thomas Hawkins' livestock Margaret Hull gives deposition wife of Edward Hull Mr Isack Ilive gives deposition William Leeds gives deposition; records otherwise known as Leedes livestock mark Mr Edward Loydd present at court otherwise known as Loid Margaret Mannering Servant servant of Thomas South Mrs. Elizabeth Martin discharges husband claims to wife of Robert Martin her own property Robert Martin Planter binds his crop of tobacco, plantation, & home as security against debt owed to Matthew Reade; discharges wife from right, title or claim due her Mrs Francis Morgan gives deposition (2) Mr Henry Morgan action of debt against Andrew otherwise known as Morgon Ellenor; ordered to act lawfully on behalf of Tabitha Short; action of debt against Anthony Calloway; present at court; accuses Thomas Ringgold of marrying Christian Hill, widow of Thomas Hill Sr in an action of debt Ann Murell 35 gives deposition Gregory Murell 36 gives deposition Luis Palpilion authors will died betw. 12/13/1657- 1/1/1658 John Raby Matthew Reade convicted of slander & fined, to otherwise known as Read, Reed make open acknowledgement of offense; action of debt against Edward Rogers; action of debt against John Salter; action of slander against Thomas South James Rigby gives deposition James Ringgold son of Thomas Ringgold John Ringgold gives deposition son of Thomas Ringgold Mr Thomas Ringgold present at court; acts as witness; sold cow to John Gibson Edward Rogers Capt.
