A little boy, about five years of age, named John Joiner, son of Mr William Joiner, of this city, was on a visit to his grandfather at Rockhall. Yesterday morning the child, and some other children were playing soliders, each with a stick for a gun, when they called on Miss Hester Downing, a young lady residing with the family, to join in their sport. She finally picked up a gun that was sitting in the corner of the room, and after marching with them, levelled the gun as if to shoot them in sport, first at one and then another, when to her horror the gun went off, and the entire load entered the shoulder of little Joiner, passing through his body and out at his side. He gave one shriek and instantly fell dead - another victim of the impropriety of the careless handling of firearms.
