He was 69 years of age. Not feeling well Mr. Van Sant had planned to visit a physician on Monday; although he was able to be at his drug store. After retiring Sunday night he called Mr. Irvin Brumbaugh, his next-door neighbor, saying that he was ill, whereupon Mr. Brumbaugh called the doctor and W. Hyland Van Sant, a son of Denton, but the well-known druggist died within a short time. He had lived alone most of the time since his wife died several years ago. Mr. Van Sant died as he lived, a humble and clean life, and will be greatly missed from his store here where every customer was always greeted with a smile. He was born in Galena, but had been a druggist in Greensboro for the past 45 years, coming here from Baltimore. His is survived by four sons--Bayard, of Philadelphia; Hyland of Denton; Comegys, of Newark, N. J.; Irving of Forrest Hills, N. Y., and three grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers, L. R. Van Sant of Galena; Bayard Van Sant, of Washington, D. C., and Irving Van Sant of Wilmington, Delaware. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at St. Paul's Methodist Church in church of pastor, the Rev. Ray W. Kirwan. Interment was made in Greensboro Cemetery.
