Also gave freedom to his Negroes at age 21..Richard, and Frederick Bowman were exec. Were to hold land for five years,( did not do so.) Divided the estate in 1824. Jacob owned land "Upper Newfoundland and Seneca Hundred (pg 15) His homestead was left to his son Frederick Bowman. It was later owned by a Fry family. -------------------------------- Death date was Feb 2, 1821.(From the records of St. Bartholemews Episcopal Church at Laytonsville) He was admitted to the communion table in 1790. -------------------------------- Jacob Bowman was naturalized in Oct. 1767. Troops in the Amer. Rev) Jacob Bowman, Capt Mantz's Co. passed by C. Beatty, July 13,1776 page 47. In the Rev. War Record cards held by the National Archives it only says Jacob Bowman, Md. private,22nd reg. No other information. He did not apply for a pension. -------------------------------- Tax records: 1793 personal property tax in Upper Newfoundland, Mont. Co was Jacob Bowman, George Bowman and George of Jacob Bowman. 1798- property tax paid by Jacob Bowman. He was taxed for 102 3/4 acres of "Joseph and Margaret Rest" and on the 2 3/4 acres of "Davis Present" 1783 tax assessment on house and lot-Washington Co, Md. He received three hundred dollars and made his mark on the deed.
