Most of the surnames researched are associated with this family either by marriage or land ownership. Other surnames are recorded because of the listing of heirs if the ancestor died intestate. Obtained by said John 1794 – granted to Thomas Beale 16 April 1796 “Hold Fast” – 12 ¼ acres “Mount Etna”, 35 ¼ acres, assigned to Thomas Beale by John Belt “Portland”, 13 ½ acres, assigned to Thomas Beale by William Smith, assignee of Basil Brooke. “Cumberland”, 43 acres “Denmark”, 19 acres “Sporting Ground”, 96 acres “The Discovery”, 89 acres “Hispaniola” 10 ¼ acres – granted 14 April 1796 “Prompted”, 40 ½ acres “Red Oak Bottom”, 11 acres, assigned by Thomas Orme, assignee of William Smith All lands granted April 1796 MD LW&P 1792-1795, FHC Film 0013125, page 703, 704, 705 Sykes Beckwith, Watson Beckwith, Ally Beckwith and Benedict Beckwith of Montgomery County Petitioners: Robert Smith 24 December 1791 had tract called “Beckwith’s Mill”, 13 ¾ acres, out of warrant for 21 acres obtained by Leonard Belt, who assigned land to Robert Smith, 17 January 1791. Robert Smith assigned land to petitioners’ father, William Beckwith, deceased, died intestate. Granted to Petitioners Sykes Beckwith, Watson Beckwith, Ally Beckwith and Benedict Beckwith, 24 February 1796. MD LW&P 1814-1818, FHC Film 0013134, page 355 Nathan Jones of Montgomery County 9 December 1784, granted a special warrant to resurvey 380 acres, part of tract of land called “Bedfordshire Carrier”, originally 10 August 1767 granted Evan Jones for 585 acres. Maryland grants unto Evan and Nathan Jones resurveyed land with the vacancy added called “Jones Inheritance”. Land in Montgomery County, beginning at said land to 4th line of “Bedfordshire Carrier” to tract called “Chancery” then to “Resurvey on Black Oak Thicket” to 20 acres of “Bedfordshire Carrier” heretofore conveyed to Ninian Willett, then to tract called “Boone’s Good Luck” then to “Hensley” and “Addition to Hensley”, then to part of “Bedfordshire Carrier” conveyed to Henry Priest. Horatio Wilcoxin, Montgomery County Petitioner: Father, Jesse Wilcoxin, by special warrant obtained 8 ¾ acres “The Slipe” 28 January 1791.
