Mrs. Carlisle was a graduate of Rockville High School, and worked as a medical secretary in Frederick. She is survived by a daughter, Marlene S. Perricone and her husband, Benjamin, of Midlothian, Va.; a grandson, Justin L. Kemp of Midlothian; sister, Nadine Breehl of Ohio; two brothers, Leon Sadler of Gaithersburg and Hal Sadler of Maryland. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. June 5 at the Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville. Burial will be private. Gladys M. Herrmann Gladys Marie Herrmann, 75, of Derwood died May 30 at her home. Born in New York, she was a homemaker and the wife of the late Frederick H. Herrmann Sr., who died in 1994. She is survived by her sons, Frederick H. Herrmann Jr. and Peter S. Herrmann of Gaithersburg. She was predeceased by another son, Glen H. Herrmann. Loftin Amy Chase Loftin, 90, of Gaithersburg and formerly of Chattanooga, Tenn., died of respiratory failure May 29. She was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Adelpa Loftin, and the sister of the later Adelpha R. Lawton of Chattanooga. She is survived by a niece, Mollie Lawton Kromer of Clarksburg; nephew, Wes Lawton of Chapel Hill, N.C.; five grandnieces and grandnephews. Private services and burial were in Chattanooga. Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home in Damascus handled the arrangements. Margaret A. Scott Margaret A. Scott, 95, of Gaithersburg died June 2 at Mediplex of Montgomery Village. Born in Pennsylvania, she had been a homemaker. She also was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Montgomery Village. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Scott of Gaithersburg; sons, Charles Scott of Gaithersburg and Jack Scott of Fairfax, Va.; sister, Mable Stout of Hagerstown; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Dr. Richard Trumball Dr. Richard Trumball, 81, a retired physiological psychologist, died after an extended illness May 21 at his home in Bethesda. Dr. Trumball was born in Johnstown, N.Y. He was a graduate of Union College and received a master's degree and his doctorate in psychology from Syracuse University, where he later taught. He also held teaching and lecturing positions at Green Mountain College, the University of Maryland and Tulane University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korean War as an aviation psychologist. He achieved the rank of captain, which he later held in the naval reserve. In 1953, Dr. Trumball joined the Office of Naval Research as assistant head of the Physiological Psychology Branch and remained there through 1970 as its director of research. His career continued as deputy executive officer of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (1970-1974) and executive director of the American Institute of the Biological Sciences (1974-1979). Throughout his career, Dr. Trumball chaired and participated in numerous advisory committees. Among these were the American Institute of Aeronautics, NATO Advisory Group on Human Factors, NASA Research Advisory on Biotechnology and Human Research, and the Advisory Committee to the Department of the Surgeon General. Among the many awards and honors accorded Dr. Trumball were the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award, the Navy Distinguished Civilian Service Award, the Raymond F. Longacre Award of the Aerospace Medical Association and a nomination for the Rockefeller Public Service Award. Among his publications were more than 40 research papers. He was co-author of two books, "Sensory Deprivation" and "Psychological Stress." Dr. Trumball was also a lay minister for Bethesda United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice Trumball; four daughters, Judith Ann Townsend of Rockville, Joanne Titus of Leesburg, Va.; Janice T. Smith of Gaithersburg and Joyce Setzer of Ellicott City; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held May 30 at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Robert A. Burdette, 79, of Dickerson, died Monday, May 26, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Edith Burdette. Born May 21, 1918, at Hyattstown, he was a son of the late Edgar L. and Lucy Benson Burdette. Mr. Burdette was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose 371, Frederick. Surviving besides his wife are one daughter, Joan Andrews of Dickerson; one son, Winstead Burdette of Hummelstown, Pa; five grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Mr. Burdette was predeceased by two brothers, Calvin E. and Bernard B. Burdette. Lester Ratliff Lester Ratliff, 81, of Frederick, died Thursday, May 28, at his home. He was the husband of Mary Ratliff. Born Dec. 8, 1915, in Kentucky, he was a son of the late James H. and Frankie France Ratliff. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Marjorie Walter of Germantown; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Donald, Excel, Esley and Leslie Ratliff; and one sister, Cova Sherrill. Mr. Ratliff was predeceased by a son, Lester Ratliff Jr., two brothers, Rexford and Chester Ratliff, and a sister, Cochie Martin. Genius Leo Henry Genius, 80, of Damascus, died June 7 at Frederick Health Care Center. Born in Dawsonville, he was a son of the late Henry and Lillian Dorsey Genius. Mr. Genius had been employed with Jones of Damascus Plumbing for more than 30 years. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Community Church, Damascus. Survivors include two brothers, Hartley Genius of Gaithersburg and Charles Genius of Frederick; and a sister, Lillian Genius Meyers of Gaithersburg. Mr. Genius was predeceased by a sister, Heather Lyles, and three brothers, Eugene Genius, Adolph Genius and Henry A. Genius. Mullinix Everett W. Mullinix, 75, of Monrovia, died Sunday, June 8, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Janice W. Mullinix. Born Dec. 11, 1921, at Long Corner, he was a son of the late Roby H. and Ruth Warfield Mullinix. Mr. Mullinix attended Lisbon High School where he was a member of the FFA and the Howard County 4-H Club, participating in showing cattle and in dairy cattle judging contests. He began his career as a dairy farmer and spent most of his working life in the artificial breeding field, working for Maryland Artificial Breeders, Curtis Breeding for 10 years, and for Select Sires. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Browningsville. Surviving besides his wife are four sons, E. Wayne Mullinix of Fort Pierce, Fla., Thomas W. Mullinix of Paris, Ky., Stephen Mullinix of Monrovia, and Kevin P. Mullinix of Lexington, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Mr. Mullinix was predeceased by a sister, Frances M. Born June 15, 1917, in Olney, he was a son of the late Harrie and C. Vera Nicholson Craver. He was the husband of Jessie E. Craver. Mr. Craver was a graduate of Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Olney. He was an honorary life member of Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department and had served as its treasurer. He was a member of the Young Men's Club of St. John's Episcopal Church. Mr. Craver had worked for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission in Laurel where he retired in 1982 after 42 years of service as the chief operating engineer at the Patuxent Plant. He was also a registered electrician. His hobbies were his rose garden, hunting, fishing and traveling. He was also an avid vegetable gardener. Beside his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Darlene C. Prophet of Gaithersburg and Diane L. Craver of Olney; and two grandchildren, Robbie Prophet and Meagan Prophet, both of Gaithersburg. Hill of Gaithersburg; step-daughter, Kim Fletcher of Virginia; special daughter, Melissa Roberts and her husband Dan of Frederick; special grandson, Matthew Roberts of Frederick; sister, Elizabeth Smith of Ohio; four brothers, Kenny Hill of Ohio, Bob Hill of Mount Airy, Jerry Hill of Gaithersburg and Donny Hill of Florida; and many friends and relatives. Diann Kay Rives Litvin Diann Kay Rives Litvin, 45, a former Gaithersburg resident, died June 12 of a heart attack in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Litvin was the daughter of Wayne and Mabel Rives of Gaithersburg. She graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 1970 and received her bachelor's of science degree from the University of Maryland in 1974. She was employed by the Department of Energy before her marriage to David Anthony Litvin in 1979. The Litvins lived in Washington, D.C., until Kennicott Corp. transferred them to Salt Lake City in 1994. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Litvin is survived by two brothers, Mark and his wife Judy, and Jim and his wife Cindy; a niece, Regina Margeson; and a nephew, Joel Rives. All are from Gaithersburg. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. June 19 at the First Baptist Church, 200 W. Diamond Ave., Gaithersburg. Her ashes were spread on Snowbird Mountain in Utah. Peters Kenneth Orval Peters, 90, whose Starmont Daylily Farm displayed thousands of blooms for 20 summers on the hillside above Shady Grove Road and Route 355 in Gaithersburg, died March 23 at his home in Bel Air Bluffs, Fla. Born in Ness County near Utica, Kansas. He attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. During his career as an electrical engineer with the Rural Electrification Administration, Mr. Peters helped bring electrical service to rural areas in 29 states, including Alaska. He was listed in Who's Who in Engineering in 1959, and received a Superior Service Award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1968. He was a member of the National City Christian Church in Washington, D.C., for many years, and a member of the National Daylily Club and the Wesley Heights Spring Valley Garden Club. Mr. Peters' first wife, Ethel Oatman Peters died in 1977. He is survived by his second wife, Anna Whitescarver Austin Peters; son, Merz Kenton Peters of New York, N.Y.; daughter, Kennetta Peters Russ of Leesburg, Va.; two step-sons, John Austin and Rick Austin; three step-daughters, Liz Brandenburg, Kathy Federline and Valerie Johnson, all of Montgomery County; six grandchildren; one great- grandchild; and 13 step-grandchildren. "Bub" Poole, 77, of Gaithersburg died June 10 at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park. Born in Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Walter S. and Mabel S. Hungerford Poole. Mr. Poole had attended Richard Montgomery High School before serving in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a sergeant in Company K, 16th Infantry, and had received the Bronze Star medal. He was a former member of the Upper Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge No. 123 of Gaithersburg. He had worked as a painter with GSA at the old Atomic Energy Commission in Germantown where he retired after 27 years of service. Mr. Poole was an avid Redskin and Atlanta Braves fan. He is survived by his wife, Nettie "Lou" Poole; three daughters, Sally J. Stanley of Mount Airy, Diana L. Davis of Derwood and Joy D. Bowling of Lakeland, Fla.; six grandchildren, Walter "Stoney" Davis of Germantown, Michelle I. Adcock and George "Staney" Davis, both of Mount Airy, David L. Davis Jr. of Germantown, Ronald E. Bowling Jr. and Cory S. Bowling, both of Lakeland, Fla.; four great- grandchildren, Madison Davis and Megan Davis of Germantown, and Michael Adcock and Matthew Adcock of Mount Airy; three sisters, Mildred Stottlemyer, Gladys Rachel and Blanche Jeffers, all of Dickerson; and many nieces and nephews. Weicht, 61, of Gaithersburg, died June 9, at her home. Born in Beaver Falls, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Robert and Laura Cambell Riggs. She was retired from the Naval Ship Research & Development Center in Carderock after 39 years of service. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth C. Weicht; and a number of nieces and nephews. Randall Virginia Renee Randall, 46, of Clarksburg, died Friday, June 13, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville. She was the wife of William J. Randall. Born July 29, 1950, at Whitefish, Mont., she was the daughter of James and Helen DeLong of Kalispell, Mont. Mrs. Randall was a graduate of Gallaudet College, Washington, D.C. At the time of her death she had been employed with the U.S. Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C. for 23 years. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Silver Spring. Surviving besides her husband and parents, are two sons, Wayne Randall and Yuri Randall, both of Clarksburg; three brothers, Tom DeLong of Kalispell, Dennis DeLong of Eureka, Mont., and Kevin Delong of Whitefish; and a number of other relatives. The family received friends on June 16 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Silver Spring, where a celebration of Mrs. Randall's life was held the same day. Burial was private. Ward Vernon Eugene Ward, 42, of Mount Airy, died Friday, June 13, at his home. Born at Germantown, he was the son of George L. Ward of Manokin and the late Lyndall Hungerford Ward. Surviving besides his father are two sons, Andy Bizell of Mount Airy and Vernon E. Ward Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Sabrina Ward of Orlando; a stepdaughter, Tina Clem of Orlando; two sisters, Mary E. Bladen of Clarksburg and Sherry D. Hallett of Warrenton, Va.; five brothers, George l. Ward Jr. of Gaithersburg, Walter W. Ward of Damascus, and Jerald N. Ward, Gary L. Ward and Randy L. Ward, all of Sharpsburg; and six grandchildren. Harold Irvin Rebuck, 62, of Poolesville, died Monday, June 16 at his residence. He was the husband of Sally G. Rebuck. Born in Pennsylvania in 1935, he was the son of Irvin M. Rebuck of Trevorton, Pa., and the late Clara Rebuck. He served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1996. During his service time, he served under the United States Public Health Service Natz Disaster Medical System. Surviving in addition to his wife and father are his children: Amy Rebuck of Thurmont, Sallie Lincoln and her husband Michael of Frederick, Richard Rebuck of Poolesville and Julie Rebuck of Clarksburg. He is also survived by two brothers, Donald Rumberger and Ralph Rebuck and one sister, Nancy Shepley, all of Pennsylvania. Rebuck is also survived by one grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Potomac Presbyterian Church, 5500 River Road in Potomac. Greiger Hila Pettry Greiger, a long-time resident of Bethesda, died June 15 at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. Born in Beaver, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Elizabeth Pettry. She was the valedictorian of the Sandy Springs High School Class of 1934 in Beaver. She married Elmer Greiger in 1943 and they were married for 51 years when Mr. Greiger died. Mrs. Greiger worked many years as a civil servant, retiring from the Office of the Surgeon General of the Air Force, where she was employed as an auditor. She is survived by two sons, William Greiger of Bethesda and Kent Greiger of Montgomery Village; grandson, William Greiger Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; five sisters, Alma Lilly of Richmond, Va., Thelma Bailey of Beckley, W.Va., Reba Adanos of Daniels, W.Va., Evelyn Cole of Cledinin, W.Va., and Zora Pettry of Beckley, W.Va.; brother, Edmond Pettry of St. Albans, W.Va.; and many other family members. Hewitt, 77, of Laytonsville, died June 18 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville. Born in Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Cecelia Kelly Fitzpatrick. She also was the wife of the late William Edward Hewitt, who died in 1953. Mrs. Hewitt had worked as a secretary for the U.S. government before retirement. She is survived by two sons, William E. Hewitt Jr. of Gaithersburg and Francis J. Hewitt of Laytonsville; four grandchildren, Courtney, Casey and Katie Hewitt of Laytonsville, and Matthew Hewitt of Gaithersburg; and a sister, Patricia Wheeler of Maryland. Thompson Lexie Ross Thompson, 82, of Gaithersburg and formerly of Jackson, Miss., died June 20 at her home. Born in Mississippi, she was a daughter of the late Allen Thomas and Lexie Yates Ross. She also was the wife of the late Leggett E. Thompson. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Redland Baptist Church. She had worked as an executive secretary and docket clerk for the Mississippi state legislature. She also had worked at Lakeforest mall in Gaithersburg in the information office for 14 years. She is survived by a daughter, Lexie M. Jones of Gaithersburg; two grandsons, William Todd Jones and Michael Jones, both of Gaithersburg; and her son-in-law, William E. Jones. Mischou Bruce Walter Mischou, 29, a Germantown resident who was raised in Damascus, died of cancer on June 17 at Sibley Hospital, Washington, D.C. Born July 7, 1967, he was the son of Frank and Jackie Mischou of Damascus. He graduated from Damascus High School in 1985 where he was a member of the tennis team. He graduated with a bachelors degree in aerospace engineering from Georgia Tech, where he was on the hockey team. He also did graduate work at Arizona State University. He worked at the Food and Drug Administration as a scientific reviewer for medical devices. Music was a great love for him. He wrote it, played guitar and also produced and engineered his own compact disc. Surviving besides his parents are a sister, Heather Nilson of Seattle, and maternal grandfather, Admiral Walter Ash (ret.) of Devon, England. Martin, 73, of Woodfield, died Wednesday, June 18, at her home. She was the wife of Orville R. Martin. Born April 14, 1924, at Manchester, she was a daughter of the late Albert C. and Treva Wildasin Graf. Mrs. Martin was a retired employee of the Montgomery County Public Schools. She was a member of Wesley Grove United Methodist Church, Woodfield, the Damascus Travel Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 171, Damascus, and the Order of Eastern Star, Lebanon Chapter 108, Manchester. Shirley L. Kendall Shirley Lou Kendall, 62, of Kemptown, died Wednesday, June 18, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Herbert Richard Kendall and the late Leroy E. Hilton. Born Feb. 6, 1935, at Glen, she was the daughter of Catherine Effie Boswell Peters and the late Lewis Alvin Peters. Mrs. Kendall was a graduate of Lisbon High School. She was a member of the Mount Airy Bowling League, Green Valley Homemakers Club and Clarksburg Baptist Church. Arthur W. Hardy Arthur William Hardy, 88, of Damascus, died Friday, June 20, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret L. Hardy. Born July 10, 1908, in Howard County, he was a son of the late Arthur R. and Cylettie Lowman Hardy. Mr. Hardy was a retired Massey Ferguson dealer and had owned and operated Damascus Supply Co. for more than 40 years. He was a lifelong member of Howard Chapel/Ridgeville United Methodist Church, Long Corner, and had served on the administrative board and the board of trustees. He had been Sunday school superintendent for more than 55 years and was a member of the United Methodist Men. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Jane Michael of Damascus; a grandson; and two sisters, Mary V. Hilton and Louise L. Haney, both of Damascus. Mr. Hardy was predeceased by three brothers, J. Rebuck Harold Irvin Rebuck, 62, of Poolesville, died Monday, June 16, at his home. He was the husband of Sally G. Rebuck. Born March 4, 1935, at Rebuck, Pa., he was the son of Irvin M. Rebuck of Trevorton, Pa., and the late Clara Rebuck. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a captain after serving from 1954 to 1996. During his service he was with the U.S. Public Health Service National Disaster Medical System. Surviving besides his wife and father are four children, Amy Rebuck of Thurmont, Sallie Lincoln of Frederick, Richard Rebuck of Poolesville and Julie Rebuck of Clarksburg; one grandchild; two brothers, Donald Rumberger and Ralph Rebuck, both of Pennsylvania; and a sister, Nancy Shepley of Pennsylvania. Nenstiel, 84, of Olney died June 19 at Brooke Grove Nursing Home in Olney. Born Aug. 11, 1912, in Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late W. Edward and Katherine Yannes Zimmerman. She was the wife of the late Lincoln J. Nenstiel. Mrs. Nenstiel was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Olney and had worked for Montgomery County Public Schools in cafeteria service. She is survived by one daughter, Katherine A. Nenstiel of Olney; and one brother, Robert C. Zimmerman of Sandy Spring. She was predeceased by a son, Ray Robert Nenstiel. A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment is at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville handled the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church. Donald L. Bucy Donald L. Bucy, 66, a long-time Montgomery County physician, died of lung cancer June 19 at this home in Rockville. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and raised in Montgomery County, Dr. Bucy graduated from Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda in 1949, where he would later serve as the school physician for over 30 years until retiring from the school in 1995. After completing high school, Dr. Bucy went on to graduate from Georgetown University and magna cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1957. After finishing his internship at New Jersey Medical Center, he served for two years as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps. Dr. Bucy started his medical career as an internal medicine resident with the Georgetown University Medical Service at D.C. General Hospital, then went on to complete a one-year fellowship at the University of Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital. In 1963, he returned to Washington, D.C.., and established his practice until his retirement from medicine on March 31 of this year. Dr. Bucy was board certified in internal medicine and a senior attending physician at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda and Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville. He was an active member of several professional memberships, including the American College of Cardiology, Southern Medical Society and American College of Physicians and was a diplomat of the American Society of Internal Medicine. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Mary McKeever Bucy; four children, Kenneth Bucy, Ann-Marie Krusen, John Bucy and Carolyn Bucy, all of Rockville; one grandchild, Nicole Marie Krusen; one brother, Charles Bucy of Solomon's Island, Md.; and one sister, Karen Wasik of Rockville. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 520 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville. Martha Scott Stuart Rowse Martha Scott Stuart Rowse, 100 of Bethesda, one of the first Bookmobile librarians in the county, died June 5. Mrs. Rowse, nicknamed Pattie, was born in Tyler, Texas in 1896. She graduated from the State University of New York at Albany in 1917. Rowse taught English for a few years before going to New York State Library School where she met her future husband, the late Edward F. Rowse. While her children were growing up, Mrs. Rowse was an active volunteer at All Soul's Unitarian Church and later served on the Leland Junior High and Bethesda- Chevy Chase High School parent-teacher association. In 1948, Rowse became a children's librarian at Bethesda Public Library and worked as one of the first Bookmobile librarians in the county. She later became a librarian at Broome Junior High School and retired in 1962. At Broome, she was elected to Delta Kappa Gamma, a honorary education sorority. During retirement, Mrs. Rowse was a member of the Chevy Chase Women's Club where she was active in the International Relations and Literature sections. Rowse is survived by two children, Edward Rowse of Derwood and Laura Hart of Silver Spring; five grandsons, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.
