Born March 3, 1938, in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Florence Rintleman Caparotti. Mrs. McCormick graduated Most Outstanding Woman Student from the University of Maryland in 1958. She worked at the Department of Labor and the Departments of Agriculture and Army. She moved to Carlsbad, N.M., where she worked for ACTION and the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. She assisted in the Law Office of McCormick and McCormick and also worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Austin. Texas. Survivors include a son, Michael McCormick of McAllen, Texas; and a brother, Ralph B. Caparotti of Damascus. The family received friends on Aug. 30 at the Molesworth Funeral Home, Damascus, where funeral services were held on Aug. 31. Burial was in Parklawn Memorial Park, Rockville. Richard A Wright Sr. Richard Allan Wright Sr., 60, of Erie, Pa., died Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Nov. 9, 1937, at Gaithersburg, he was a son of Eleanor Murphy Nehouse of Cedar Grove and the late Vernon Dyson Wright. Surviving besides his mother are six children; 14 grandchildren; and a brother, Harry Wright of Mount Airy. Mr. Wright was predeceased by two sons and by his stepfather, Elwood Nehouse. Hungerford, 80, of Dickerson, died Saturday, Aug. 30, at home. Born Oct. 29, 1916, in Maryland, he was a son of the late William C. and Lillian Peddicord Hungerford. He was a Protestant. Mr. Hungerford served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had worked for the Maryland State Highway Department prior to retirement. Survivors include six stepchildren, Esther E. Mr. Lewis had been active for the past 40 years in residential construction and real estate development in the Washington metropolitan area. At the time of his death he was serving as vice president of operations for Zuckerman Gravely Development Inc. Chevy Chase. Mr. Lewis had served in the SeaBee's in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Counties Four VFW Post 10076, Mount Airy, American Legion Gold Star Post 191, Mount Airy, Annapolis Elks Lodge, New Market Masonic Lodge and Annapolis Shrine Club. Surviving besides his wife are a son, Thomas Allen Lewis of Germantown; two stepdaughters, Laurie Case Gross of Florida and Vivian Case Fagan of North Carolina; one brother, Bernard Watkins of Damascus; two sisters, Vinnie Lang and Lola Lewis, both of Kankakee, Ill.; and seven grandchildren. Born Aug. 31, 1960, in Washington, D.C., she spent her childhood in Silver Spring and graduated from Paint Branch High School in 1979 and the University of Maryland in 1985 with a bachelor of science in personnel and labor relations degree. She also served there as the president of the Disabled Student Alliance. She also worked for the Small Business Administration in Washington, D.C. Ms. Hannen was a member of the American Society for Personnel Administrators and the Wilderness Society, and worked as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She is survived by her parents, James Norman Hannen and Barbara Jean Hannen of Silver Spring; her brother, James Victor Hannen of Colfax, N.C.; her sister, Karen Hannen Bing of Burleson, Texas; her paternal grandmother, Iva Irene Hannen of Conowingo, Md.; six nieces and one nephew. She was a clerical worker for the Montgomery County Police Department before her retirement. She was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Fairland and attended Liberty Grove Methodist Church, Petworth Baptist Church and Burtonsville Baptist Church, where she taught Bible classes for a number of years before moving to Florida in 1980, where she continued teaching at the First Baptist Church of New Smyrna Beach. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Carl L. Kruhm Sr.; three sons, Gerald D. of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Carl L. Jr. of Frederick and Douglas M. of North Potomac; a brother, Donald R. Born in Comus, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Mary Etta Rennick McDonough. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Hyattstown. Survivors include four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Frances Weller of Monrovia, Annie Cooley of Dickerson and Nellie Cooley of Barnesville. Mrs. Haines was predeceased by two daughters, Katherine MacKenzie and Mary Frances Haines, six sisters and four brothers. Kelpy Jr. Kerry Byron Kelpy Jr., 24, of Damascus, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, in an automobile accident on Long Corner Road, Mt. Airy. Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Kerry B. and Margaret Ann Freeman Kelpy of Damascus. He was employed as a waiter at the Pizza Hut in Mt. Airy and the Olde Town Tavern in Gaithersburg. He was a 1991 graduate of Damascus High School, a member of the Montgomery United Methodist Church and Sunday School, a member of Campus Life Youth for Christ, had been active in 4-H, was a former member of the Damascus Dairy Club and was very active in y outh sports. Surviving in addition to his parents are three brothers: Jim, Mike, and David Kelpy all at home; maternal grandmother, Margaret Freeman of Bethesda; and paternal grandparents, Larner and Viola Kelpy of Manassas. Elwood Mullinix Elwood Mullinix, 82, of Damascus died Monday, Sept. 15 at his home. He was the husband of Carolyn O. Mullinix. Born in Damascus, he was the son of the late Herman W. and Winifred Pearce Mullinix. Mr. Mullinix was a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post 10076, the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion Post #171. Mr. Mullinix also opened the first self-serve grocery store in Damascus in 1948. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Sharon E. Chaney and her husband, Bruce, of Mt. Airy and Sheila Hutchison and her husband, David of Mt. Airy; two grandchildren; one brother, LeRoy Mullinix of Gaithersburg; and special nephew, Randy L. Mullinix of Martinsburg, W.Va. Mr. Mullinix was predeceased by a granddaughter. Born in Appomattox, Va., he was the son of the late Wade Hampton and Tressie Martin Ferguson. He was retired from the United States Navy. He was a member of Fleet Reserve Unit, Triangle Branch #182 and Cissel-Saxton Post #41 American Legion, Silver Spring, and Moose Lodge No. 371 of Frederick. "Jack" Phelan, 49, of Damascus, died of Crohn's Disease on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville. He was the husband of Rosanna V. Phelan. Born in Vallejo, Ca., Mr. Phelan was a medical administrator and was active in the community at Shady Grove Hospital, with the American Legion and Fleet Reserve Association. He held a bachelor of science degree in business from George Washington University. Mr. Phelan also received many awards during his life, including the National Defense Service Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Navy Achievement Medal; Navy Commendatio n Medal; and Good Conduct Award. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Joseph of Gaithersburg and John of Potomac; and one granddaughter. The family received friends on Monday. The funeral took place Tuesday, followed by burial at Arlington National Cemetery. He is survived by his ex-wife, Sarah Beacom, three children, Emma Beacom Frank of New York, Eric James Beacom of Boston, MA and Bruce Edward Beacom of New York, and many friends. John Edward Ennis John Edward Ennis, 71, of Gaithersburg, died on Sept. 18 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville. Born in Redland, Md., he was a farmer and former private in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Bernice Ennis. Mr. Ennis' survivors include his wife Glenna Mae Ennis of Gaithersburg and five children: Glenna Louis Ennis of Deeprun, NC; Kenneth Robert Ennis of Damascus; Franklin Edward Ennis of Dickerson; John Isaac Ennis of Brunswick, Md.; and Paul Leroy Ennis of Gaithersburg. He is survived by 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends were received at Pum-phrey's Colonial Funeral Home in Rockville,Sept. 22. McGarry, 87, of Silver Spring died Sept. 16, 1997. She was a child actress in silent films, retired after 40 years with C & P Telephone and a member of the Montgomery General Hospital Women's Board. She was born March, 6, 1910. She is survived by her daughter, Anne M. Willson of Silver Spring; grandchildren Frank F. Willson, III, Missy Willson Gilroy, John Willson and step-grandchild Constance Willson Gabrielli; and four great- grandchildren. Services were held Sept. 18 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Olney. She was a homemaker. Born Feb. 15, 1961, in Pensacola, Fla., she was the daughter of Harold R. Troesch Sr., Cantonment, Fla. and the late Ruby J. Troesch. She is also survived by her finance, Randy Wright of Laurel; a daughter, Crystal M. Wright of Laurel, sons Edwin F. Shanko II of Burtonsville and Joshua N. Troesch of Laurel; sisters, Cynthia Owensby of Pensacola, Fla., Becky Fussell of Pounchatoula, La., Becky Ard of Foley, Ala., and Crystal Troesch of Pensacola, Fla.; brothers, Harold R. Troesch Jr., of Ripley, W. Va., and Gregory Troesch of Pensacola, Fla. Services were held Sept. 22 in Cedar Hill Chapel, Pensacola, Fla. and interment followed at Morgan Cemetery, Molino, Fla. Arrangements were handled by Fleck Funeral Home, Laurel. Mary Ellen Norris Mary Ellen Norris, 85, of Wheaton, died Sept. 16, 1997 at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring. She was a homemaker and member of the Women of the Moose, Wheaton. She was born Jan. 20, 1912, in Takoma Park. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Howard Norris, and five brothers and sisters. She is survived by a brother, Ernest Lloyd Thomas, and a sister, Ruth Rutherford, both of Kensington. She is also survived by children, Mary Louise Stevens and Betty Ann Umstead, both of Kensington, Ernest Carroll Norris of Silver Spring, David Eugene Norris of Frederick, Joyce Arlene Fram of Wheaton, and Donald Lloyd Norris of Mt. Airy; 19 grandchildren. Mrs. Norris also had 35 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Services were held Sept. 19 at DeVol Funeral Home, Gaithersburg.
