Morgan Gayle Eugenia Morgan, 75, of Beallsville, died of a stroke Jan. 30 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville. Born in Mankato, Minn., on Oct. 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Constance and Evan E. Vandehei. She was the wife of the late Warren E. (Gene) Morgan. Raised in Salt Lake City, she was an accomplished skier. She was a 40-year resident of Maryland and raised her family in Bethesda before moving to Beallsville in 1980. She was a homemaker and an avid gardener. Survivors include six children, Katherine L. Hazam of Lancaster, Pa., David B. Morgan of Chevy Chase, Rebecca S. Player of Vancouver, British Columbia, Tracey J. Morgan and Cory E. Morgan, both of Beallsville and Tammy J. Brown of Adamstown; and 12 grandchildren. Kenneth L. Poole Jr. Kenneth L. "Chip" Poole Jr., 49, died Jan. 27, 2003, in Burtonsville. He was a computer systems programmer for the Montgomery County government. Mr. Poole was a lifetime resident of Burtonsville, was a member of the first graduating class at Paint Branch High School and grew up in the house that his great-grandfather built. He was a member of Spencerville Free Methodist Church. Born February 26, 1953, in Olney, he was the son of Kenneth and Anna Poole. He is survived by his wife, Debby H. Poole, daughters Jennifer and Nicole Poole, a son Christopher Poole and a sister Peggy Ann Poole. A service was held Monday at Spencerville Free Methodist Church. Burial was private. Manuel Tejada Maldonado Manuel Tejada Maldonado, 47, of Silver Spring died Jan. 11, 2003. He was a construction worker. He was the husband of Maria Y. Alarocon de Tejada, and the father of Maria, Norman, Oscar, Guadelupe, Berardo and Reinito. He is also survived by brothers and sisters Francisco, Leonel, Arturo, Santiago, Juan Jose, Ismael, Nelda, Marina, Mena and Ermelinda, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services and interment were held in Aqua Caliente, El Salvador. Local arrangements were provided by Philip D. Rinaldi Funeral Service, Silver Spring. Patricia M. Domek Mrs. Patricia M. Domek, 84, of Gaithersburg died at her home Feb. 6, 2003. Born April 20, 1918, in Branford, Conn., she was the daughter of John A. Daniels and Mary Galinas Daniels. She was the wife of the late Peter S. Domek. Mrs. Domek was active for 30 years in Holy Infant Church in Orange, Conn., and was a past vice president of Holy Infant Women's Guild. She taught ceramics for more than 25 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mrs. Domek is survived by one son, Peter J. Domek of Cheshire, Conn.; one daughter, Maryann Ansley of Gaithersburg; one brother, Anthony V. Daniels of Gaithersburg; one grandson; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa K. Mehringer; and two brothers, Francis and John Daniels. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockville at a later date. Arrangements were made by Pumphrey's Colonial Funeral Home. Kenneth W. Owens Mr. Kenneth W. "Kenny" Owens, 65, of Gaithersburg died Feb. 8, 2003, at his home. Born July 15, 1937, he was a son of the late George and Augusta Owens. He was the husband of Annabell V. Owens. Besides his wife, Mr. Owens is survived by eight children, Kent L. Owens, Rhonda D. Owens, Garland D. Owens, Gary D. Owens, June T. Owens, Scott J. Owens, Patrick E. Claggett and Rodney K. Palmer; two stepdaughters, Nichole McDonald and Wanda Moten; three daughters-in-law, Patricia and Gayle Owens and Sandy Claggett; one son-in-law, Nathaniel McDonald; three sisters; three brothers; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; three aunts; 13 grandchildren; and a many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family will receive friends from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Goshen United Methodist Church, 19615 Goshen Road. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Roberts William Russell Roberts, 80, golf course architect and pilot, died Feb. 6, 2003, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville. He created and operated Russell Roberts Company, Inc., for more than 40 years. Mr. Roberts designed, built and maintained golf courses along the eastern seaboard. Two of his last ventures included the Hidden Valley Resort in Pennsylvania and the Bay Club in Ocean City, Md. Mr. Roberts studied engineering, graduating first in his class, while serving with the U.S. Navy during World War II. The Navy sent him to Pan American Airway's Flight Mechanics School at La Guardia Airport. From there he attended flight school in Texas and at the University of Georgia, making the transition from flight mechanic to the cockpit. Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife Lillian; three sons, Jack of Elko, Nev.; James of Gaithersburg and Bill of Poolesville; three stepsons, Philip Johnson and Anton Johnson, both of Clayton, N.C., and Chris Johnson, Apex, N.C; and several grandchildren. His first wife Dodie preceded him in death. A funeral service was held Feb. 8 at Darnestown Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dr. Henry Postel officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery. Lillian Miller Harrison Lillian Miller Harrison, 88, of Rockville died Jan. 17, 2003, at Sunrise Assisted Living, Rockville. She was a teacher at Oakland Terrace Elementary School in Wheaton for 21 years. Mrs. Harrison served as an organist in several churches, a theatre organist for silent movies, giving private piano and organ lessons, singing in church choirs and serving as co-chair of the Music Committee at National City Christian Church in Washington, D.C., Born Lillian Frances Miller in Harrisonburg, Va., July 2,1914, she was the daughter of G. Clarence Miller and Beulah Floyd Orebaugh Miller. She married I. Kieth Harrison on Dec. 5, 1943, in Oregon. Mrs. Harrison went on to attend Shenandoah Conservatory of Music near Harrisonburg and graduated from James Madison College in Harrisonburg, with a degree in elementary education. She taught for at three Virginia locations and at Oakland Terrace, where she retired in 1977. She is survived by a son, Keith M. Harrison of Rockville; his wife Linda, three granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, several relatives and many friends. A service was held Feb. 9. Roark, 62, of Wheaton died Feb. 7, 2003. She was the daughter of the late William and A. Margaret Shuff of Cabin John. Holl Claudette Alice Holl, 70, of Olney died Feb. 8 at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney. Born July 30, 1932, in New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice Felici. She was the wife of Rudolph "Rudy" Holl, to whom she was married for over 51 years. Mrs. Holl worked as a bookkeeper for Cowle Printing for more than 20 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by six children, Laurene Kuhar and husband David of Laytonsville, John Holl and wife Donna of Ellicott City, Richard Holl and wife Cheryl of Westminster, Keith Holl and wife Terri of Manassas, Va., Wayne Holl and wife Kim of Hagerstown, and Thomas Holl and wife Kelly of Columbia; one sister, Dolores Maloy of Florida; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Sharon Holl of New York; and 13 grandchildren. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. *****Feb. 19, 2003***** Brian L. Brohawn Mr. Brian L. Brohawn, 55, of Damascus, died Feb. 16, 2003, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville. Born Sept. 18, 1947, in Baltimore, he is the son of Denise C. Brohawn of Damascus and the late Charles L. Brohawn. Mr. Brohawn was a 1965 graduate of Damascus High School. At the time of his death he was a member of Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Damascus and was one of the very first alter boys when the church was founded. Besides his mother, Mr. Brohawn is survived by four brothers, Gary Brohawn of Damascus, Rowland Brohawn of Falls Church, Va., Richard Brohawn of Fulton and Ronald Brohawn of Woodbine; one sister, Denise Pitts of New Market; five nieces; many cousins and special friends, Albert Warfield and Uncle Creston Smith. Gladys Reum Cross Ms. Gladys Reum Cross, 93, died Feb. 6, 2003, at her home in Montgomery Village. She suffered from complications related to a brain tumor. Mrs. Cross was born in Wilmington, Del., on March 31, 1909. At the age of 5 she moved with her family to Bowie, where she lived on the family farm, which had been purchased in the 1880s just after the family immigrated to America from Germany. Her family donated property from the farm for a one-room schoolhouse, so that Mrs. Cross and the children of many area farmers could avoid the lengthy horseback ride to the local grade school in Bowie. Mrs. Cross and her family belonged to St. James Episcopal Church in Bowie. Mrs. Cross's family lived on the farm continuously until it was the federal government bought it and it became part of the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge. Mrs. Cross entered Eastern High School when it first opened in 1923. After graduation, she attended Strayer Business College for two years and worked at the Tivoli Theater when it opened in 1927. She attended George Washington University, where she majored in library science and joined Zeta Tau Alpha. While attending Eastern High School, Mrs. Cross met Allen S. Cross, a native Washingtonian, who was born and raised on Capitol Hill. Immediately following Dr. Cross's graduation from George Washington University Medical School, they were married at St. John's Episcopal Church at Lafayette Square. After her marriage, Mrs. Cross worked in her husband's office, first at 11th and Pennsylvania Avenue and subsequently at 12th and Pennsylvania Avenue, living in apartments over both offices. During World War II, Mrs. Cross volunteered for the Red Cross at Walter Reed until her husband's return from the war in 1945. In 1950, the family moved from Capitol Hill to Wesley Heights where Mrs. Cross continued her volunteer work as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and assisted in the library at Horace Mann Elementary School and Sidwell Friends School. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband died in 1979 and was buried at Arlington National Cemetery. In the late 1980s, Mrs. Cross moved to Montgomery Village. Mrs. Cross is survived by her daughter, Patricia Bradley; and a cousin, William Thompson of Frederick. Burial will be private at Arlington National Cemetery. David L. Duvall Mr. David L. Duvall, 86, of Damascus, died Feb. 10, 2003, at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney. He was the husband of Dorothy A. Duvall for 60 years. Born on April 21, 1916, in Woodfield, he was the son of the late Lewis and Bertha Watkins Duvall. He was a retired security guard at Johns Hopkins APL Laboratory and a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church. Besides his wife, Mr. Duvall is survived by one daughter, Norma Roddy and her husband Bob of Comus; two grandchildren, Melissa Schwartz and her husband Bryon of Frederick and Melinda Holmes and her husband Brian of Ainsworth, Iowa; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Johnson, Lenora Wachter and Hazel Smith; and two brothers, Wilson Duvall and Willard Duvall. Memorial services were held Feb. 12 at Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus. Burial was private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity. Kenneth M. Sell Mr. Kenneth M. Sell of Gaithersburg died Feb. 12, 2003, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville. Born Oct. 28, 1916, in Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Jacob B. and Emma Blanch Butler Sell. Mr. Sell served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired teacher with Montgomery County Public Schools. Mr. Sell has no immediate survivors. Molesworth P.A., Funeral Home in Damascus. *****Feb. 26, 2003***** Anne Schlossenberg Anne Schlossenberg, 48, of Beltsville died Feb. 22 at Johns Hopkins University Hospital after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of Ellis Schlossenberg. She had been the secretary at Calverton Elementary School. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Samuel Matthew Schlossenberg; her parents, George and Mary Mutimer; a brother, Paul Mutimer; three sisters, Therese McGee and husband Charlie, Monica Wiley and husband Steven, and Margaret Potter and husband Stephen; and many nieces and nephews. A graduate of Springbrook High School, she had many family and friends in Montgomery County. Funeral service were held at Congregation Oseh Shalom in Laurel on Monday. Burial will be at 11 a.m. today at King David Memorial Gardens in Falls Church, Va. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Johns Hopkins University Hospital. Helen L. Briggs Butler Helen Louise Briggs Butler, 92, died Feb. 19 at her daughter's home in Damascus. She was the wife of the late Elliott Yale Butler who died in February 1979. Born Sept. 4, 1910, in Brookville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Ernest Gailbrathe and Anna Maude MacAninch Briggs. She began her career as a schoolteacher in a one-room school in Jefferson County, Pa. After her marriage in 1936, she taught elementary school in Oil City, Pa. She also won many awards. She was a teacher at Vacation Bible School. She was on the board of Rainbow Girls. She was an avid member of bridge clubs in Pennsylvania and Florida. She worked part-time in retail sales. Survivors include one daughter, Ann Dove and her husband, Ron, of Damascus; one granddaughter, Suzie Marchetti and her husband, Steve. Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Clack and Sara Barnett and three brothers, William Briggs, Harold Briggs and Wendal Briggs. Memorial services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Shady Grove Presbyterian Church, 16911 Redland Road, Derwood, MD 20855. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., at a later date. James "Bo" Lake Jr. James "Bo" Lake Jr., 38, of Bolivar, W.Va., died Feb. 16 at his residence in Bolivar. He was the husband of Doris Ann Lake. He was born Aug. 25, 1964, in Ranson, W.Va., to Mable Stokes Lake Clemons and the late James S. Lake Sr. He worked for Montgomery County for the past 17 years. He attended the Bolivar Pentecostal Church. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Local No. 400 in Gaithersburg. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mable Stokes Lake Clemons of Bolivar, W.Va.; two stepdaughters, Chasity Madison of Hopewell, N.C. and Melissa Madison of Petersburg, Va.; two stepsons, David Lee Madison of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Jamey Scott Madison of Charles Town, W.Va.; five sisters, Janice Lake of Everett, Pa., Linda Livengood of Martinsburg, W. Va., Teresa Seal of Kearneysville, W. Va., Pamela Rhodes of Everett, Pa., and Lori Nave of Bolivar, W. Va.; two brothers, Gary Lake of Damascus and Rickey Lake of Inwood, W.Va.; 11 step-grandchildren; three uncles; five aunts; and numerous nieces and nephews. His father preceded him in death. Mary Ellen Ashlyne Mary Ellen Ashlyne, 43, of Montgomery Village, died Feb. 23, 2003, at her home. She was the wife of Heath Suddleson. Born Oct. 12, 1959, in Mineola, N.Y., she was the daughter of John and Carolyn Naughton of Rockville. Mrs. Ashlyne had lived in the Washington area since 1960. She graduated from Rockville high School in 1977 and from the University of Missouri in 1981 with a degree in horticulture. Mrs. Ashlyne taught at several area institutions, including the Melwood Institute, YMCA and The Ivymount School, during her career. She also worked as a physician's assistant. Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Ashlyne is survived by two sons, Steven and Ryan Hannegan; five sisters, Kathy Carpenter of Houston, Texas, Sharon Fives of Silver Spring, Patricia Cunnigham of Annapolis, Jackie Boak of Springfield, Va., and Eileen Hughes of Frederick; a brother, John Naughton of Rockville; and 17 nieces and nephews. Fauth Jr., 71, of Gettysburg, Pa., formerly of Darnestown, died Feb. 19, 2003, at his residence in Gettysburg. He was the husband of Nancy Jean Fauth. Born on May 13, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late William L. and Ruth Funk Fauth. Mr. Fauth was active in the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Barnesville. Besides his wife, Mr. Fauth is survived by five children, Elaine Lewis of Westminster, Jack Fauth of Minnesota, Doug Fauth of Monrovia, Pam Kennedy of Frederick and Michael Fauth of Gettysburg; two sisters, Loretta Luebert and Rita Thomas, both of Pennsylvania; and 11 grandchildren. Mr. Fauth is preceded in death by one son, Joseph Fauth. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Barnesville. Burial was in the church cemetery. Gude, 83, of Rockville died of a stroke on Feb. 20 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville. She was the wife of the late Adolph E. Gude Jr., who died in 1979. Mrs. Gude attended St. Mary's College in St. Mary's City, Md., and was a full- time homemaker. She was a founding member of Rockville Little Theatre and appeared in numerous productions. She was a past member of the Inner Wheel of the Rockville Rotary Club and the Montgomery County Historical Society. She participated in numerous fund-raising drives for charitable organizations and was once an active volunteer with the Republican Party of Montgomery County. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Rockville and Columbia Country Club of Chevy Chase. She is survived by two daughters, Lacey A. Gude of Washington, D.C., and Elizabeth G. Munro of Rockville; a son-in-law, Brooks C.B. Wood of Marco Island, Fla.; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Georgeann G. Wood. Funeral services were held at Christ Episcopal Church on Tuesday. Burial was in Rockville Cemetery. Zelma Daniels Kearse Zelma Daniels Kearse, 68, of Rockville died Feb. 18 at Casey House in Derwood. Born March 8, 1934, in Hannah, S.C., she was a daughter of the late William Y. and Dorothy DeWitt Daniels. She was the wife of Charles D. Kearse. Mrs. Kearse was a homemaker. Besides her husband, she is survived by three children, Charlene K. Dillingham of Laytonsville, William B. Kearse of Reston, Va., and Amanda K. Miller of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren; a sister, Yvonne D. Buzzelli of South Carolina; and a brother, Alvin D. Daniels of South Carolina. Friends visited at the Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville on Feb. 23. Funeral services were held Feb. 24 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Laytonsville. Burial was at Parklawn Cemetery in Rockville. Christopher A. Sharpnack Christopher "Chris" Alan Sharpnack, 23, of Olney died Feb. 19 at Georgetown University Hospital. Born Aug. 29, 1979, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Frank (Rick) and Gilly Sharpnack. He was a mechanic for Criswell Chevrolet and Kia. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Amy Kidwell; and grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenmont United Methodist Church, 12901 Georgia Ave. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. Francis Snowden Francis Snowden, 77, of Shepherdstown, W.Va., formerly of Sandy Spring, died Feb. 15 in Atlantis, Fla. Born March 31, 1925, in Olney, he was the son of the late Edward and Nellie Kelly Snowden. He was the husband of Marie Q. Snowden. Mr. Snowden was a graduate of Sherwood High School. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and attended the University of Maryland. He was a member of Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department and had served as chief. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Olney. Mr. Snowden had retired from Sandy Spring National Bank as a senior vice president after 41 years of service. He was a golfer, had played baseball in the Senior Leagues, and was an avid gardener. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sisters, Virginia Boquet of Little Rock, Ark.; Marie Edsinger of Port Republic, Md., and Elsie Morris of Crescent, Fla.; four stepchildren, Michael Milner of Baltimore, Mark Milner of California, Laura Brown of Middletown and Monique Smith of Shepherdstown; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Friends visited at the Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville on Feb. 21. A Mass of Christian burial was offered Feb. 22 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery in Sandy Spring at a later date. Lillian Miller Harrison Lillian Miller Harrison, 88, of Rockville died Jan. 17 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Rockville. She was a teacher at Oakland Terrace Elementary School in Wheaton for 21 years. Mrs. Harrison served as an organist in several churches and as a theater organist for silent movies, gave private piano and organ lessons, sang in church choirs and served as co-chair of the Music Committee at National City Christian Church in Washington, D.C. Born Lillian Frances Miller in Harrisonburg, Va., July 2, 1914, she was the daughter of G. Clarence Miller and Beulah Floyd Orebaugh Miller. She married I. Keith Harrison on Dec. 5, 1943, in Oregon. Mrs. Harrison went on to attend Shenandoah Conservatory of Music near Harrisonburg and graduated from James Madison College in Harrisonburg with a degree in elementary education. She taught at three Virginia locations and at Oakland Terrace, where she retired in 1977. She is survived by a son, Keith M. Harrison and wife Linda of Rockville; three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren; and several relatives and many friends. A service was held Feb. 9. Colin Kallfelz Colin Kallfelz, 20, a lifelong Potomac resident, was killed Jan. 16 in a car crash outside of Saratoga, N.Y., while on a ski trip. A 2001 graduate of Winston Churchill High School, Mr. Kallfelz was the son of Anita and Paul Kallfelz. He attended Montgomery College and volunteered at the Montgomery County Humane Society in Rockville and the Second Chance Wildlife Center in Gaithersburg. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a grandmother, Sarah Grodjesk of Bethesda; a brother, Chris Kallfelz and wife Melissa of Lusby, Md.; and an uncle, Harvey Grodjesk and wife Ellen of Houston. Edward Sagel Funeral Direction in Rockville handled the arrangements. The funeral was held Jan. 19 at Har Shalom in Potomac. Burial was at Judean Memorial Gardens in Olney. Zelma Daniels Kearse Zelma Daniels Kearse, 68, of Rockville died Feb. 18 at Casey House in Derwood. Born March 8, 1934, in Hannah, S.C., she was a daughter of the late William Y. and Dorothy DeWitt Daniels. She was the wife of Charles D. Kearse. Mrs. Kearse was a homemaker. Besides her husband, she is survived by three children, Charlene K. Dillingham of Laytonsville, William B. Kearse of Reston, Va., and Amanda K. Miller of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren; a sister, Yvonne D. Buzzelli of South Carolina; and a brother, Alvin D. Daniels of South Carolina. Friends visited at the Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home in Laytonsville on Feb. 23. Funeral services were held Feb. 24 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Laytonsville. Burial was at Parklawn Cemetery in Rockville.
