Orphans report

Montgomery County in the State of Maryland, October ye 29th 1778, We the 
subscribers being appointed agreeable to Act of Assembly to estimate the yearly 
Rent of the Plantations and lay out what Lands to be cleared likewise return 
what improvements on said plantations that are willed by John COOK late of 
Montgomery County and state aforesaid deceased to the following orphans Viz - 
Willed to Lary COOKE the plantation where Zadok FOARD now Dwells improvements 
two old Dwelling Houses & old apple orchard the yearly Rent seven hundred 
pounds Tobacco no Land to be cleared but what will keep the plantation in 
repair and so by him to be left - also the plantation where James GROOME 
Dwells, improvements two old Tobacco Houses & two Old Dwelling Houses, the 
yearly Rent one Thousand pounds Tobacco no Land to be clear'd but what will 
keep the plantation in repair & so by him to be left ---

Willed to Basil COOKE the plantation where John COOKE formerly Dwelt 
improvements one Dwelling House kitchen Quarter meed House and two Old Tobacco 
Houses two apple orchards, the yearly Rent two Thousand pounds Tobacco no Land 
to be clear'd but what will keep the plantation in repair & so by him to be 
left - Also the plantation where Richard RICKETTS now Dwells improvements two 
Cabbins one Old Tobacco House one old apple orchard, the yearly Rent six 
hundred pounds Tobacco no Land to be cleard but what will keep the plantation 
in repair & so by him to be left - Also some cultivated Land where Benjam KELLY 
Rents the yearly Rent four hundred pounds Tobacco two acres of Land to be 
cleared East from the aforesaid improvement & so by him to be left in repair --
      Willed to Ruth COOKE the plantation where John HOUSE now Dwells 
improvements one Logg Dwelling House & two old Tobacco Houses, the yearly Rent 
one Thousand pounds tobacco thirty acres of Land to be cleard, South West & 
West of said Dwelling House & so by him to be left in repair --  Willed to 
Rachel COOKE the plantation where William LANSBURY now Dwells improvements one 
Old Dwelling House & two Old Cabbins two apple orchards the yearly Rent one 
Thousand pounds Tobacco thirty seven acres Land to be cleared on the West side 
of said dwelling House & so by him to be left in repair -- Also the plantation 
where William RICKETTS now Dwells improvements one Old Dwelling House, Cabbin & 
one old Corn House, the yearly Rent eight hundred pounds Tobacco no Land to be 
cleard, but what will keep the plantation in repair & so by him to be left in 
repair -- Also the plantation where Samuel GOLDER now Dwells improvements two 
Old Dwelling Houses & Cabbin one Old apple orchard, the yearly Rent eight 
hundred pounds Tobacco no Land to be cleard, but what will keep the plantation 
in repair & so by him to be left in repair -                                    
Benjamin RICHETTS Guardian

Willed to Nathn COOKE the plantation where Sarah RICKETTS now dwells 
improvements one Old Dwelling House & two Cabbins the yearly Rent nine hundred 
& fifty pounds Tobacco twenty acres of Land to be cleared in the West & North 
West of said Dwelling House & so by him to be left in repair.  Also the 
plantation where Stephen TUCKER now Dwells improvements one Logg Dwelling House 
& Cabbin the yerly Rent eight hundred pounds Tobacco thirty acres Land to be 
cleard on the South, West side of said Dwelling House & so by him to be left in 
repair -- Also the Quarter Land, improvements one Logg Dwelling House & one old 
Tobacco House the yearly Rent one thousand pounds Tobacco forty five acres Land 
to be cleard South West & West & to the North East from said Dwelling House & 
so by him to be left in repair -- Also the plantation where Anthony RICKETTS 
now Dwells improvements one Logg Dwelling House one Cabbin one Old Tobacco 
House & apple orchard the yearly Rent eight hundred pounds Tobacco no Land to 
be cleared by what will keep the plantation in repair & so to be left by him in 
repair
