All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Patricia O'Connor p-oconnor@att.net March 27, 2006, 1:59 pm Source: Montgomery Md Wills & Accounts Liber B Written: June 7, 1781 Recorded: July 20, 1781 Montgomery MD Wills & Accounts Liber B p. 51, 52 RIDGEWAY; BEALL: MAGRUDER In the name of God Amen, I Robert RIDGWAY of Montgomery County State of Maryland being sick and weak in body but of Perfect mind and memory Thanks be given unto the Almighty God and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory world and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die when if & how please God to call them do make constitute appoint and ordain this my last will and Testament in the manner and form following And first I recommend my soul into the hands of the Almighty God who gave it hoping at the resurrection to raise again with Joy and through the merci of Christ my Saviour, possess Endless Joy and felicity in the Kingdom of heaven and my body I recommend to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors and now, in setting my Temporal Estate and such goods Chattels &c as it hath pleased God far above my Desire to bestow upon me I do give and dispose of the same in the form and manner following: That is to say - First I will that all those debts and duties I owe in right of conscience to any person or persons whatsoever shall be well and truly contented and paid or ordained to be paid within a convenient time after my decease by my Executors hereinafter mentioned Item - I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife, Sarah RIDGWAY all and every and singular my whole Estate Real and personal to be enjoyed possessed and have during her Lifetime without any hindrance let or molestation excepting hereafter excepted (That is to say) our three children which no liveth with us, namely Isaack, Sarah and Jemima to have the same management Privelege. Keeping and Maintenance as they now have. And after the said Sarah (my wifes) death and burial then and only then the above Estate Real and personal to be equally divided among the said three children namely Isaach, Sarh, Jemimah, they paying the there debt or Debts legally incumbering the said Estate - And it is further ordained by me that is either of the above children should die before their Mother, that then the said Estate be equally devided among the survivors after her death and if any two of them should die, that then the whole Estate Real and Personal be wholly at the disposal of the surviver and it is further ordained by me the said Robert Ridgway that is either of the said children should have any legal begotten children before the decease of said Sarah their Mother and should happen to died that the child or children of the deceased have the third part after the decease of the said Sarah my wife to be put to their use in the best manner - And I do mereby constitute appoint and ordain the said Sarah RIDGWAY (my wife) and Isaach my son to be sole Executrix and Executor of this my last will and Testament Revoking and disannulling all and every former wills Legacies or Bequeaths heretofore made given or Bequeathed by me In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 7th day of June anno Domini 1781 his Robert [B] RIDGWAY [seal] mark Signed sealed pronounced and declared by me as my Last will and Testament in the presence of us the underneath witnesses Lech MAGRUDER William BEALL MAGRUDER Montgomery County July 20th 1781 Came Lech MAGRUDER, William B. MAGRUDER the subscribing witnesses to the within Last will and Testament of Robert RODGWAY Late of said County deceased and made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that they did see the Testator therein named sign and seal this will and that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his Last will & testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehension of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and that they respectively subscribed their names as witnesses to this will in the presence and at the request of the Testator & in the presence of each other S. TURNER Register The same day came Isaack RIDGWAY and made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that the within Instrument of writing is the true and whole will and Testament of Robert RIDGWAY deceased, that hath come to his hands and possession and that he doth not know of any other.
