MD Wills & Accounts Liber B P 204, 205 In the Name of God Amen - Be it remembered that I Abigail SIMMONS of Montgomery County, being of sound mind, will, memory and understanding do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following viz: I chearfully resign my soul to Almighty God, who gave it to me firmly trusting for salvation through the bitter death and passion of our savior Jesus Christ, my Body to be decently intered at the Discretion of my Daughter hereafter mentioned and the Estate wherewith God hath blessed me with I Devise and Bequeath as follows. In the first place I will and Devise all my just Debts to be paid as soon as conveniently may be --- Item -- I give and bequeath to my dearly beloved daughter Margaret SIMMONS a Negro fellow named THOMAS and a Negro lad named CHARLES a Horse called Rainbow a saddle and Bridle and a Bed and furniture and a Milke Cow -- Item -- I give and Bequeath to my six Daughters Elizabeth SIMMONS, Mary DAWSON, Deborah BARKER, Eleanor HAYES, Sarah SHECKELLS and Margaret SIMMONS. The four following slaves to wit SARAH, JACK, MOLL and a Negro child JACK with their increase to them and their Heirs forever. Item -- I give and bequeath to my sone Isaac SIMMONS, my son George SIMMONS and the Heirs of my son Samuel SIMMONS deceased one shilling sterling to each of them -- All the undevised Residue of my Estate I will and desire to be divided among my six Daughters above mentioned, and Lastly I do nominate constitute and appoint my step son Samuel SIMMONS Executor of my last will and Testament hereby revoking all other will or wills heretofore made declaring this only to be my last Will and Testament --- In witness hereto I have set my Hand and seal this Twenty ninth Day of December One thousand seven Hundred and Eighty five Abigail [X] SIMMONS [seal] Signed Sealed, Published and Declared by the said Abigail SIMMONS for her last Will and Testament who in her presence and at her Request have subscribed our Names as Witnesses hereto Simon REEDOR Frederick SPRIGG Montgomery County February 8th 1786 Then came Simon REEDOR and Frederick SPRIGG the subscribing witnesses to the within last will and Testament of Abigail SIMMONS late of the said County deceased and severally made oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God that they did see the Testator therein named sign and seal this will and that they heard him publish, pronounce and Declare the same to be her last will and Testament and that at the time of her so doing she was to the best of their apprehension of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and that they respectively subscribed their names to this will as witnesses in the presence and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of each other Certified by Saml TURNER Register Transcribed by Patricia O'Connor p-oconnor@att.net This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/mdfiles/ File size: 3.5 Kb
