McKENDREE CEMETERY, PRINCE GEORGE'S CO., MD Accokeek, MD This file is part of the MD Tombstone Transcription Project: http://www.usgwtombstones.org/maryland/maryland.html ********************************************* http://usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************* Contributed to The USGenWeb Tombstone Transcription Project & USGenWeb Archives by: Dr. E.V., Bell, II (bookreviewer@hotmail.com) To contribute additional information and/or photographs, please contact MD Tombstone Transcription Project at mdcemmy@yahoo.com Location and Directions: South on MD Route 5 (Branch Avenue) from the Washington Beltway to MD Route 373 (Accokeek Road). Turn right on Accokeek Road. Drive until 1/4 mile past McKendree Road. Cemetery is on the right. USGS Location: McKendree Cemetery is located at 38 deg 41' 12" N latitude, 76 deg 54' 45" W longitude. Many of the graves are marked with a headstone and footstone. The footstones are usually the initials (sometimes the name) of the person denoted on the headstone. In those cases where there is a variance from this, there is a notation. The cemetery has been arbitrarily divided into seven sections based on the distribution of graves. Two of these sections (#1 & #3) have cement curbing around them, one of them (#2) has a wrought iron fence around it. The following diagram illustrates the sections and the listings are ordered by section. Woods surround the cemetary (and are encroaching on it) on the south, west, and north.
