She was born on Sept. 17, 1895, on an American Indian reservation in Albuquerque, N.M. Phillips was a retired self-employed cosmetologist in the District who was active in church, civic and volunteer groups. She resided at the Magnolia Center nursing home in Lanham when she died. From 1933 to 1984, she lived in the District . In 1984, she moved to New Carrollton, where she lived until moving to the nursing home. She was a founder and chairman of Barney House, a senior citizens' clearinghouse in the District established in 1968. She served on many task forces dealing with hunger in the community and housing for the aged. For her community work, she received awards from such groups as the District Council, Family and Child Services of Washington, the National Caucus and Center on Black Aged, the District Mayor's Committee on Handicapped Individuals and the District chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. Since 1945, Phillips was a member of Trinity AME Zion Church in the District, where she served on the lay council and was a member of the home and foreign missions society. She retired as a cosmetologist in the 1970s Her husband, Charles H. Phillips, died in 1995. Survivors include her daughter, Doris Jean Trader of New Carrollton, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were made by Stewart Funeral Home in the District. Services were held on Monday at Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church in the District. She is buried at Maryland National Memorial Park in Laurel. Malcolm Date Wall Malcolm Date Wall, 86, of Mitchellville died Jan 20 at Collington Episcopal Life Care Community living facility in Mitchellville. He died from complications of thrombocytemia, a blood disorder. Wall was born in Warsaw, N.C., and attended the University of North Carolina. He worked as a U.S. Air Force historian. He was a volunteer for the Prince George's County Meals on Wheels program and a member of the Collington Episcopal Life Care Community. Wall and his wife Jane moved to the Collington community in 1988 before she passed away in 1996. He is survived by his three children, Edward Davis Wall of Ann Arbor Michigan, Barbara Wall Wells of Baltimore and Anne Wall Compton of Columbia; and three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Lorene Elizabeth Huston Cornett died Jan. 21 in Laurel. She was 87. A housewife and a teacher, she was born in Westboro, Mo. Oct. 12, 1915. She is survived by Richard Orin Cornett, Ph.D., 88, her husband of 15 years, three sisters Jeanette Huston of Tarkio, Mo.; Mary Shiled of Birmingham, Ala.; and Rose Huffaker of Manlius, N.Y.; daughter Linda Badley, Ph.D., of Cheverly; sons Robert Huston Cornett, Ph.D., of Cheverly and Stanley Orin Cornett, D.Mus.A., of Baltimore; and three granddaughters Jane Cornett of Cheverly; Lydia Cornett and Emily Cornett, both of Baltimore. A memorial service will be held March 9 at the First Baptist Church, 811 5th Ave., Laurel. Fleck Funeral Home in Laurel is making the arrangements. Interment will be at the mausoleum at Maryland National Cemetery in Laurel. He is survived by Mildred E. Presswood, his wife, Albert L. and Mary E. Presswood, his children, Christina Northrup and Linda Sue Wallace, stepchildren, Ann Major, sister and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Feb. 1 at Whitehall Baptist Church in Accokeek. Presswood was interred at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood. Nellie Wedding Nellie Wedding of Accokeek died Jan. 26 at the age of 72 years old. Wedding followed her daughter, Nancy Hayes, in death. She is survived by Carroll Wedding, her husband, Jacqueline Cole and Gene and Dewayne Wedding her children, one brother, four grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. Services were held at the Williams Funeral Home in Indian Head on Jan. 29. She was interred at Trinity Memorial Gardens. Georgia L. Shaver Georgia L. Shaver of Morningside died Jan. 12 at the age of 65. She was a retired Prince George's County teacher. She followed Glenn C. Shaver, her husband, and Rex T. Shaver, her son in death. She is survived by her sons Thomas and Richard, seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Services were held at Huntt Funeral Home in Waldorf. Shaver was interred at Cedar Hill. Alex T. Moluski Alex T. Moluski, 71, of New Carrollton died at his home Feb. 7. Moluski was born July 16, 1930 in Duryea, Pa. He is survived by his wife Josephine Moluski, his daughter Donna Stickley and her husband Jack, his daughter Maureen Carrion and her husband Jay, his son David Moluski and his wife Laure and his sister Ann Dzuiba. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Brittany, Steven, Marlena, Jeffrey, Michael and Bradley; and his aunt, Louise Mierzeski. Services were held at the Rendon Hale Funeral Home in Lanham on Feb. 8 and at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Landover Hills. He is buried at Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 4200 Harewood Road N.E., Washington, D.C. 20017. Leslie G. Schaefer Leslie George Schaefer, 75, of District Heights died at his home Feb. 3. Schaefer was born May 2, 1926 in Milan, Wis. He lived in District Heights for more than 40 years and was a member of a local bowling league. He also enjoyed playing golf and gardening. He is survived by his wife Helen Ruth Schaefer; his son Nathan Edward Schaefer and his wife Pamela Gail; his siblings Joyce Ahles, Blanche Krizek, Lorraine Bouse and Werner and Arnold Schaefer. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Louise and Werner Schaefer and his sister Bernice Burger. Services were held Feb. 8 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Bel Alton. The burial will be private. Memorial donations may be sent to the Hospice of Charles County, P.O. Box 1703, La Plata, Md. 20646. Funeral arrangements were made by Raymond Funeral Service in La Plata. Allan G. Wickersty Allan G. Wickersty, 54, of Cheverly died on Feb. 5. He is survived by his wife, former Cheverly Councilwoman Patricia A. Wickersty, and his children, Kristin and Andrew Witte and Kelly Ann and Kathleen Aimee Wickersty. A psychologist by profession, he was one of a team of eight psychologists from across the United States that provided counseling for about 1,000 federal employees in New York City after terrorist attacks. He was the son of the late Joseph and Frances Yaczko Wickersty. He was also raised by Dorothy Fekety and her family, Joseph and Josephine Martinez and their family, Steven and Catherine Yaczko and Attilio Vallerini and family, Stephen Pakarovich and family and Isabel Cain. Services were held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cheverly on Feb. 8. He is buried at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring. Funeral arrangements were made by Gasch's Funeral Home in Hyattsville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Hospital Psychiatric Unit in the District. Christopher Scot Miles Christopher Scot Miles, 29, died in Baltimore Feb. 10. Miles worked as produce manager for the Laurel Meat Market, and is the son of the owner Bill Miles. Miles is survived by his wife Melinda; daughter Tricia Anderson; son Tony Krueger; brother Brian Lee Miles; parents Bill and Ruth Ann Miles; and grandparents Doris Mae Miles and Emma Louis Wachter. Services were held Friday at Liberty Grove Church.
