She is survived by her parents, Anton Studevant and Shalita Cooper. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Joseph Scott. Cooper also left behind grandparents Jocelyn Scott, Robert Jackson and Marcia Cooper and great-grandparents Rudolph and Juanita Powell. Funeral arrangements were handled by Raymond Funeral Home in La Plata. Services and interment were private. *****Sep. 26, 2002***** Martha A. Forcey-Southall, 83, a dancer and singer who performed years ago in clubs and theaters in the United States, Canada and Europe under the name Myrtle Wilson, died Aug. 9. She shared billing with many famous performers, including Ella Fitzgerald and the Ink Spots, and in the 1950s sang with the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, retired Army Chief Warrant Officer Thomas W. Southall Jr. of Temple Hills; son, Thomas W. "Sky" Southall; and four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Paul E. Coakley, 79, who retired in the early 1980s after 37 years with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, died Aug. 22. As a bantamweight boxer in his youth and a local Golden Gloves champ, he was inducted into the Washington-area Amateur Boxing Hall of Fame. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jeannette Messina Coakley, and daughter Bonnie Carroll, both of Suitland; and two brothers, two granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren. Mary Hennings Herbst of Fort Washington, a real estate agent who also taught music in Prince George's County schools, died Sept. 4. She was former choir director at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband, Albert O. Herbst; three children; three siblings; and eight grandchildren. Roberta "Micky" Martin, 61, who taught at Clinton-Camp Springs Nursery School in the 1970s, died Sept. 4 in Rockville. Survivors include a son and a granddaughter. Alice Augusta Cochran, a teacher at St. Ignatius School, died Sept. 6. She was the wife of Lt. Col. George W. Cochran Jr.; mother of Mary Hovey, Ann Jordan, James, Michael and John Cochran and the late Teresa; and grandmother of nine. John Kenneth Rawlings of Accokeek passed away Sept. 6. He is survived by his wife, Carol McPeak Rawlings; two daughters, Elizabeth Rawlings and Cara L. Rawlings; and granddaughter Rehan A. Rawlings. A memorial service was held Sept. 13 at Christ Episcopal Church on Farmington Road in Accokeek at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association.
