He was 48. Upon graduating from DeMatha High School in Hyattsville in 1973, Cheek attended Bowie State University. He later went on to earn his associateís degree from the College of Life Sciences in Respiratory Therapy at the University of the District of Columbia in 1980. During his career, where he was a senior respiratory therapist at Childrenís National Medical Center. At Childrenís he worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Intensive Care Unit and was a member of Helicopter Transport Services. Cheek married Yolanda Herndon on April 15, 1988, and moved to Glenn Dale that year. Cheek had many hobbies, including cars and home improvements. He also taught his sons, Andrew and Alexander, how to work with tools and he cheered for them in their various sports and activities. He is survived by his wife, Yolanda, and their two sons, Andrew and Alexander. He also leaves his mother, Sarah Cheek, his sister, Valida Cheek Walker, nephew Jonathan Walker, niece Leisha Walker and nephew Christian Walker, all of the District. He is preceded in death by his father, Cheek H. Cheek. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Cheek C.
