Montgomery Flossy E. Montgomery, 64, passed away May 24 at her home in Accokeek. She was a lifetime member of the Accokeek Fire Department. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Montgomery. She is survived by sons Jack Jr., Gary Lee and Mark A. Montgomery; a brother, Ruby G. Valentine; grandchildren Nathan, Amanda, Amber, Stephanie and Alyson; and great-granddaughter Ashley. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. May 29 at the Huntt Funeral Home in Waldorf, with interment at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Hospice of Charles County, P.O. Box 1703, La Plata, MD 20646, or the Accokeek Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 226, Accokeek, MD 20607. Joseph A. Jilek Joseph A. Jilek, formerly of Camp Springs, died May 23. He was retired from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and a member of the St. Pius X Council of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanna, who died about five years ago. Survivors include his children: Joseph, John, Janice Hollabaugh, Jill Maria Trotter and Jennifer Mandes; and 11 grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Philip's Church, where he used to be head usher. Francis Harold Wilkinson Francis Harold Wilkinson, 84, of Brandywine passed away May 16 from complications following heart surgery. He was a retired farmer and former lumber grader. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Hugh E. Voehl Jr. of Newburg; and grandchildren Vanessa V. Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Hugh E. Voehl III of Newburg. Betty P. Jackson *****June 12, 2003***** Thelma V. Willingham Thelma V. Willingham, 81, of Brandywine died May 30 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata. She was a bookkeeper with W&W Fabrications and a homemaker. In addition to her parents, Clarence W. Tayman and Mary Myrtle Dement, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Willingham; son, Roy W. Willingham Jr.; and brothers Jo, Buck and Leonard Tayman. She is survived by her children, Robert E., William R., Harold Willingham, Donna Snyder, Sherry Moore and Betty Gardiner; brothers Walter and Earl Tayman; sisters Mary Ellen O'Reilly, Mary "Gladys" Boujberg, Shirley Cooper and Audrey Myers; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Services were held June 3 at First Baptist Church in LaPlata. Burial was at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf. Lillian E. "Tootie" Stack Lillian E. "Tootie" Stack of Morningside, a member of the VFW Post 9619 Ladies Auxiliary, died June 4. She was the widow of Howard G. Staples. Survivors include two children and four grandchildren. Howard M. Day Howard M. Day of Temple Hills, a physicist who retired from the Naval Research Lab in 1989, died April 27. He served with the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He attended Shenandoah College & Conservatory of Music, graduated from George Washington University in 1952, attended the Institute of Radio Engineers and earned a master's degree in physics from the University of Maryland. He had a private pilot's license and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; two children; a brother; a sister; a stepbrother; and four grandchildren. *****June 19, 2003***** A. Frances Landsberg A. Frances Landsberg, 89, died June 17 at Collington Episcopal Life Care Center in Mitchellville, where she had lived since 1988. In 1946, she married Dr. Helmut E. Landsberg, director of climatology for the U.S. Weather Bureau, and lived in the District. In 1954, the family moved to Camp Springs. She was an active volunteer for the Prince George's County Library, the United Services Organization and Greater Southeast Hospital. She enjoyed cooking, travel and was an avid reader. Landsberg traveled extensively to Europe, Scandinavia, Asia and every state except Alaska her husband until his death in 1985. Landsberg is survived by one son Bruce, his wife, Jan, two grandsons, Matthew and Neil, and a sister, Janet Harrison of Florida.
