Brown was an active member of Immanuel Methodist Church in Brandywine and a past president of United Methodist Women. She was born Nov. 15, 1915, in Hillsboro, N.C., and is survived by her husband, Horace Franklin Brown; her son, Horace F. Brown Jr.; her daughters, Victoria Peckham and Robin Bridges; her sisters, Vivian Bryant, Gladys McGhee and Pearl Lombardi; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial took place at the church cemetery of Immanuel Methodist Church July 16, with Raymond Funeral Service in LaPlata handling the funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions can be sent to: Immanuel Methodist Church, 17400 Aquasco Road, Brandywine, MD 20613. *****July 24, 2003***** Mary Buffalo, who crusaded for state legislation to protect the rights of aging foster parents, died June 17. She was 72. Buffalo, a Salisbury resident, and her husband, Willie Jr., lobbied extensively for the passage of what came to be known as the Buffalo and Thomas Bill passed in the Maryland state legislature in 1986. The bill requires foster parents in the state of Maryland to have the option to adopt the child when that child becomes eligible. "We had a child known as Angel Thomas since she was six weeks old," said Willie Buffalo Jr. "Social services wanted to move her out and we fought against it." One daughter, Clarice Williams, preceded her in death. Buffalo is survived by her husband Willie Buffalo Sr. of Salisbury and three daughters, Tanya Buffalo of Seaford, Barbara Ann Moses and Carolyn Jean Buffalo, both of Goldsboro, N.C. She is also survived by a stepson, Willie Buffalo Jr. of Philadelphia, a goddaughter, Vanessa Collick of Pocomoke City, 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and loved ones. *****July 31, 2003***** Keith D. "Dough" Reid Keith Reid, a former soldier and auto mechanic, died July 19 after being hospitalized with an illness. He was 44 years old. A Lanham resident for the past 19 years, Reid was born in the District Aug. 28, 1958, to Annie and Lorenzo Reid. After graduating from DuVal High School in Lanham, Reid enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he was trained and served as a mechanic. In 1983, he got a job with the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk, which he held until becoming and automotive technician in 1996. Reid was a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden. He is survived by his wife; his two daughters, Lakeiva and Latoria; his mother; sister Melba Reid; brother David Lilliston; and father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Agnes Marshall.
