The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Transcript of will from Wills Liber T1, folio 552-553 In the name of God Amen I, Richard Duckett of Prince Georges County in the state of Maryland, being indisposed of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say) first and principally I recommend my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named and as touching such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bestow on me I dispose of in the following manner (to wit): Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved son Basil Duckett hsi heirs and assigns for ever all my real estate which I now possess or have any right or title to or may have at the time of my death; except one room in my dwelling house with a fire place in the same (with the free use of the kitchen) which I bequeath for the use of my two single daughters Lucy and Ann as a place of residence during the time they shall remain single, leaving it with my son Basil Duckett to appoint the room for the above purpose and likewise that they shall have a sufficient quantity of fire wood from some part of my lands on Darnals Grove in such place as my son Basil Duckett shall direct, and after the death or marriage of my two daughters above named I give and bequeath the same to my son Basil Duckett and to his heirs and assigns for ever. I likewise give to my son Basil Duckett the value of 100 pounds currency to be of the same species of property that I have heretofore given my married daughters. Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Ann Duckett the value of 100 pounds currency to be of the same species of property that I have heretofore given my married daughters. Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Soaper 100 dollars and two cows and calfs. Item - I give and bequeath the residue of my personal estate together with the crop growing on the ground to my beloved son Basil Duckett, Mary Mullikin, Martha Hall, Lucy Duckett, Elizabeth Soaper, Ann Duckett, (Richard Waters, Basil Waters and Stephen Waters, sons of Stephen Waters by my daughter Jane to have one sevent part of the above request equally divided amongst them) the residue to be equally divided amongst my six children above named share and share alike. Item - It is my will and desire that my Executor shall keep my estate together until the crop on the ground shall be finished. And Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Basil Duckett whole and sole Executor of this my last will and testament, to execute and perform every matter and thing therein contained according to the true intent and meaning thereof hereby revoking and disanulling all former will or wills by me in any manner made, ratifying and confirming this and none other to be my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 29th day of April 1803. Witnessed by Baruch Duckett, Richard Duckett, Jr., and Joseph Crass.
