Will of Basil Waring Jr. of Prince Georges Co., dated 26 March 1776

In the name of God Amen. I, Basil Waring, Junior of Prince Georges County, being sick 
of body but of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and 
testament in manner and form following. Viz. Imprimus my will is that all my just debts be 
paid by my Executrixes as hereafter named.

Item. My will is that my said loving wife have one-third part of my land during her life.

Item. My will is that all my lands be equally divided between my two sons James Waring 
and Thomas Waring to them and their airs (sic) forever having regard to the goodness of 
said land agreeable to the direction of my couzon (sic) Basil Waring and my nephew Basil 
Waring which I beg the favour of them to see divided and settled between them to the best 
of their judgment.

Item. My will is that one hundred acres of that part of the land said of for my son Thomas 
Waring be for all my daughters to settle and work their hands during their life until they 
should marry and then to return to my said son Thomas Waring.

Item. My will is that my Negroes after my wife's third be taken out be equally divided 
between my four daughters Elizabeth Waring, Eleanor Waring, Easter Waring and Martha 
Waring.

Item. I give to my son James Waring two cows and three ewes, five hogs.

Item. I bequeath to my son Thomas Waring two cows and three ewes, five hogs. The rest 
of my cattle, sheap (sic) and hogs after my wife's third is taken out be equally divided 
between my four daughters before named.

Item. My will is that after my dear and loving wife takes her third part of the horses and 
household furniture the remainder to be equally divided between my four daughters before 
named.

And lastly I do hereby appoint and constitute my dear and loving wife whole and sole 
executrix of this my last will and testament hoping she will see all things herein contained 
settled. In testamony hereof I have set my hand and seal this 26th day of March One 
thousand seven hundred and seventy-six.

forever interlined between the tenth and eleven being first inserted.)

And on the back of the aforegoing will was thus written viz.
Prince Georges County, May 16, 1776
Then Richard Simmonds, Nehemiah Norton, and Robert Simmonds made oath on the holy 
evangels of Almighty God that they did see Basil Waring Jr. the testator in the within will 
named sign and seal the same and that they heard him publish, pronounce and declare the 
same to be his last will and testament and that at the time of his so doing he was to the 
best of their apprehension of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding and 
that they did sign their names as witnesses to said will in the presence and at the request of 
the testator and in the presence of each other.
