Will of Martha Waring of Prince Georges Co., dtd 8 Dec 1752


Will:
In the name of God Amen. I, Martha Waring, of Prince Georges County in the province of 
Maryland, widow being sick and weak but of perfect sound disposing mind and memory 
do make this my last will and testament this eighth day of December in the year of our 
Lord seventeen hundred and fifty two in a manner and form following ____ imprimus. I 
give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Duckett, wife of John Duckett and her heirs 
forever one Negro man named Sampson and the sum of fifteen pounds currency to be paid 
by my executor hereafter mentioned sometime within six months after my decease. Also a 
feather bed boulster and pillows and the covering with one pair sheets and pillow cases 
standing in the sheel (?) of the house I live in three high back chairs and one low back 
leather chair, one small looking glass, one pewter dish and six pewter plates, one iron pot, 
one spit and all the wearing apparel. I shall die possessed of also two ewes and two lambs.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Francis the sum of twenty pounds sterling to be 
paid him by my said executor within six months after my decease.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Basil Waring one feather bed boulster, pillows, 
curtains, one pair sheets and pillow cases being the bed that I now use myself. One pewter 
dish, six pewter plates, one iron pot, three high back leather chairs, one cow and calf. Also 
two months work of some carpenter to be hired and paid by my executor for the said two 
months labour.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Ursula Burgess one pewter dish, two 
deep pewter plates and my small square black walnut table.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my daughter-in-law Elizabeth Waring the sum of fifteen 
shillings sterling to purchase her a ring and to be paid by my executor.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Waring all the remaining part of my estate 
of what nature so ever after my ______ aforementioned are paid and delivered, and lastly, 
I do constitute and appoint my said son Thomas Waring sole executor of this my last will 
and testament, In witness thereof I have set my hand and afffixed my seal the date within 
mentioned.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the Testator to be her last will and testament in 
the presence of us who subscribe as witnesses at her request.

On the back of the aforegoing will was thus _____ Prince Georges County January the 
sixth day of 1758 Mr. John Cooke one of the public being witness to foregoing will and 
testament came before me and made oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God that 
he did see the deed sign, seal, and deliver the same and that at that time she seemed to be 
of sound memory and disposing mind and that he and the other two witnesses at her 
request and in her presence signed the same sworn before me. G. Scott, Deputy
