All Rights Reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ********************************************************* Document of Indenture between George Callaghane and Hynson Downes, 1799 This Indenture made this Nineteenth, Day of December in the year of our Lord Christ Seventeen hundred and ninety nine Between George Callaghane of Carroline County in the State of Maryland carpinter of one part and Hynson Downes famous of Queen Anns county the other part witnesseth that the Said George Callaghane for and in consideration of the sum of Elevin pounds Seventeen Shillings and six pence Current Lawfull money to him in hand paid by the aforesaid Hynson Downes before the Sealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt where of he the said George Callaghane Doth hereby acknowledged & hath granted Bargained Sold alined released ___ and confirmed and by these presents doth grant Bargain Sell ____ (aline?) release _____ and confirm unto the said Hynson Downes and his Heirs, all that part of a Tract or parcel of land known by the name of Hemsleys Arcadia _____ (Setnate?) Lying and being in Queen Ann's county aforesaid near the head of one of the Branches of Wye River, Beginning at a Stone Lot by Said Downes, fence side in or near to the second north east by north Line of the original Tract of Land aforesaid and about two hundred and Twenty eight perches on Said Line and Running from the aforesaid Stone south Eighty degrees west twenty perches then north Eighty degrees west twenty perches then north twenty Six Degrees west six perches to the out line of Arcadia afe? as ___ with an Allowance of three Degrees on the original Lines of Said tract for variation then Reversing Said out Line north Eighty one degrees and twenty two & ahalf minutes East forty five perches to the Begining, of the aforesaid Stone Containing and now Laid out for two acres and three Eights of an acre of Land more or less Together with all houses out houses gardens orchards ___ trees timber trees, woods under woods ways water & water courses and all Singular the priveleges & Advantages to the Same parcel of Land belonging or in any wise appurtaining & the Reversion and Reversions Remamder X Remainders Rents ____ & ____ there of and of every part there of To have and hold the hereby Bargained and Sold Land and premises with the Appurtenances unto the said Hynson Downes his heirs and Assigns to the only proper use Benefit and behoofe of him the aforesaid Hynson Downes his heirs and Assigns for ever and the said George Callaghane for him self his heirs Executors and Administrators the afor? parcel of Land and premises hereby Bargained and Sold with the Appurtenances and every part and parcel there of unto (???) the said Hynson Downes his heirs and Assigns against him the said George Callaghane and his heirs and all persons whatsoever claiming and to ____ the same of any part or parcel there of shall and will warrant and by these presents forever defend In testimony whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto interchangebly set the hands and affixed there seals the day and year first above written.
