In the name of God Amen, I George Denny of Queen Ann’s County in the State of Maryland, being (of) sick & weak body, but of sound and disposing mind memory & understanding considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs, & thereby being the better prepared to leave this world, when it shall please God to call me hence do therefore make & publish this my last will & testament in manner and form following, that is to say, First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of almighty God, and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix herein after named and after my debts and funeral charges are paid. I devise and bequeath as follows, Item. I give and devise to my two unmarried sisters Lydia Denny and Anna Denny my dwelling plantation whereon I now live known by the name of Hemsley’s Arcadia and part of _____ (Dullage?) containing altogether one hundred & eighty five acres of land more or less, as will’d to me by late father, Peter Denny. And also all that part or parcel of a tract of land called Nobles Range and part of _____ (Dullage?) being the land which I lately purchas’d of Bennett Downes as per his bond of conveyance to me will appear, adjoining my home plantation afsd. to them and to their heirs forever in fee simple, and in case of either of them should die without issue, then to the survivor, under the express condition that my mother shall have a home in my dwelling house with them as afsd. __ out her life. Item. I give unto my brother John E. Denny two hundred and twenty dollars current money of the United States. Item. I give and bequeath unto my sister Rebecca Downes wife of Nathan Downes, one hundred and sixty dollars. Item. I give and bequeath unto my sister Estes Fairbank wife of Philip Fairbank. One hundred & sixty dollars. Item. I give and bequeath unto my sisters Lydia Denny and Anna Denny, my negro woman named Pegg to serve them until the first day of January Eighteen hundred & twenty two, and then to be free. Also Pegg’s daughter call’d Eliza to serve them twenty years from the first day of January next, and then to be free. And also Pegg’s youngest daughter nam’d Priss, to serve them twenty eight years from the first day of January next, and then to be free. Item. I devise & bequeath all the rest & residue of my estate both real & personal to be equally divided among my two sisters afsd. viz Lydia Denny & Anna Denny to them their heirs and assigns forever, in equal position share & share alike. And lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my two sisters Lydia Denny and Anna Denny joint executrixes of this my last will and testament. In testimony where of I now hereunto set my hand and affix’d my seal this twentieth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred & twelve. Geo. Downes, Ennalls Martin __ (Jun.?), Stephen Denny Queen Ann’s County , __ Then came Lydia Denny and Anna Denny and made oath May 1st 1813 on the holy evangels of almighty God that the foregoing is the true and whole last will and testament of George Denny late of Queen Ann’s County, deceased, that has come to their hands or possession and that they do not know of any other. County Queen Ann’s County, __ Then Ennalls Martin & Stephen Denny two of the May 1,, 1813 subscribing witnesses as to the foregoing last will and testament of George Denny late of Queen Ann’s County deceased, and made oath on the holy evangels of almighty God that they did we the testator therein named sign and seal this instrument of writing as his last will and testament, that they hear him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his Last will and testament, that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding that they subscribed their respective names, and saw Wm.
